Customer Reviews

The screen is very well built, easy to mount, and works as expected.

The walls and ceiling are painted bright white, and still I'm able to get very nice image quality.

I figured since the company was close it wouldn't take long to get a replacement screen.

I've had this screen installed for a few days now, I've unravelled and contracted it several times and it seems to be fluid and sturdy. (I was weary after reading several reviews on a similar screen that said it was frail and broke quickly) But so far it seems to work fine. Installation was a royal pain, as the studs in my ceiling are almost impossible to find or non-existent. Nevertheless, I did some weight tests and I think it should definitely be secure.

Yes... the screen bar is actually a slight off-white, but I think it is for the better, as I have eggshell walls and when rolled back up (or when rolled out) it blends into the wall... with dim lights, the most noticeable aspect is the black frame around the screen which works great with bleed over the edges from your projector. The color produced seems great, although I have little to compare it to and of course it also depends on the integrity of your projector.

There is very slight "ripple" effect from the screen being tightened to the pulldown bar... only most noticeable when there is scrolling horizontal text in the movie - which doesn't happen that often - and even then, it is not anything to cry about. (UPDATE) this either seemed to correct itself, or I no longer notice it as it has been a few years and I never think about this issue anymore. The edges do still bow inwards slightly, but only upon the first few minutes of unraveling. If you open it, leave it for a few, then watch your film - no problem.

So... as of now, I am giving this 4 stars. Should it fail sometime in the coming months I will update my review, but as of now I have nothing too negative to say about this screen.

2012 UPDATE: The screen is still installed perfectly, still unrolls and collapses perfectly, no signs of wear on the screen.
2013 UPDATE: Still works as good as it ever did. Ripples seem to be gone. I love this screen.

We bought a Sanyo PLV-Z5 projector, and have it set up in our living room. I wanted a pull down screen so our living room did not have to be a full time theater. I read a lot about screens, and in general, much more high end screens were recommended. Maybe the movie connoisseur with a more depicting eye would not be pleased with this screen, but we have been thrilled. Content has been very bright and vivid, and contrast better than any television we have ever had. We just use it for watching movies, and do not have any high-def sources, but I doubt it would make any difference.

The only downside is that this screen does have a bit of a wave in it. After it has been up for a while, we have to tension the bottom corners to pull it flat. This is only noticeable in scenes with a lot of horizontal motion across the screen, and when we add tension, we do not notice it.

Overall, if one does not want a fixed screen, I think this is a great screen, and I could not find a better price anywhere.

One other note, my sister also purchased this screen and has been equally happy with it.

I have had this projector screen set up and in use now for a month or two and thought I would leave some important feedback for anyone looking as hard as I did before buying a screen. The main thing I want to mention/warn potential buyers about is that the bottom 25% of the screen has "ripples" that appear, quite obviously, during movie scenes where the camera pans slowly across a landscape.

I emailed Elite Screens customer service/warranty and was told too bad, all of their manual screens have this problem and they wont replace/fix any of it. I was pretty disappointed and suggested that they add to the product description "All of our manual screens have a HIGH chance of ripple effect and is to be expected". If that was in the description I would have not purchased it.

Bought this screen 6 months ago from Provantage.com at the time it was under $110 I now see it's going for $137.64 + 39.50 for shipping. At the time it was the cheapest 135" screen I could find without building my own. I was looking for a simple (Large) matte white screen. I've been very pleased with it. I always have it in a pulled down position, so I've never had an issue with it. Picture resolution is great especially with blu-ray. Projector used is a Sanyo plv-1080hd, for those wondering.

If you're on a budget, I would recommend this screen. For me personally, I'll always spend more for a good projector than an expensive screen. It's gotten to the point that projectors have become so good image wise, that a plain blank wall will give you a good picture. Mabey someday I'll step up to a grey screen, but for now this does a great job for under $200.

I've included 5 photos up above.

I had a dedicated theater room with a fixed screen that I needed to make more toddler friendly. I came to the tough decision of turning the dedicated theater room into a general media room. I had to get rid of the fixed screen and get a pull up screen so I can place a tv behind it to watch. Initially, I was scared off from manual screens by all the talk of waves in the screens. Some had even mentioned that the screens were wavy the instant they put it up. I decided to take a chance and purchase this to see how bad it was.

I installed it last night, and I'm happy to report that there were no waves at all. The screen was perfect. I cant speak for its longevity, but I hope it remains this way. I was also concerned about going from my fixed screen, which has a 1.3 gain, to this one which is 1.1 gain. Again, I'm happy to report that it made no difference and the picture looked just as good, if not better, than the screen I was using.

The screen was very easy to install, but I do have to give a couple of negative remarks. First, it doesnt come with parts to hang the screen on the ceiling. This was a little annoying to find out. You get excited and want to hang it up quickly, only to find out you need to run to home depot to buy a chain or hook to hang from the ceiling. Even with wall mounting, you still need to go out and purchase screws. Nothing major, but very annoying. The second thing is the screen does have an odor to it. Its nothing that will make you sick, but it is there. I'm hoping it doesnt last long.

All in all, I was very surprised and pleased with the screen. For the cost, you cant beat it. My fixed screen, which I made myself, cost me almost as much as this one did.

UPDATE:
Well, it didnt take long to start developing waves.
