5.0 out of 5 stars No need for a thousand dollar guitar
I have a 25 year old Yamaha FG-200D(Domestic model, made in Japan) acoustic guitar. When I bought it, it was around 200 - 250 USD. I always liked the way it sounded. It was always loud, bass rich, but a little dull in high tones. Recently I purchased a set of Elixir Nanoweb Light strings. Afterwards, it sounded so great that I won't change it for a thousand dollar worth...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great, but G string doesn't last
I've played with elixir strings since they first came out. I love the sound and the fact that they stay new for a long, long time. But it seems like about a year ago my g string started breaking way too early. I usually leave the strings on for about 3 months, but the g string has started breaking after about 1 month, or sometimes earlier depending on how much I play...

5.0 out of 5 stars No need for a thousand dollar guitar, September 21, 2005
This review is from: Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Electronics)
Afterwards, it sounded so great that I won't change it for a thousand dollar worth Martin. I realized that the difference was not in high strings, it was the coated low ones which now sounds crystal clear and still rich. I strongly recommend to any acoustic player.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh yes, May 16, 2007

two things that will make this simple for everyone. First off I will never go back to anything else for acoustic and second the polyweb are great but I HIGHLY recommend the nano. The tone is beautiful, soft and they last forever. If you want a higher sound with more treble go for the polyweb.

5.0 out of 5 stars love Elixir nanoweb, November 11, 2006
This review is from: Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Electronics)
I have been using Elixir Nanoweb strings for almost two years, and won't buy anything else. What they say about long string life is absolutely true. With other strings, I needed to change them after any gig or jam session that went more than a couple hours. If I didn't, the strings sounded really, really dead. I used to change strings at least weekly, and sometimes more often.

When I play Elixir strings, they sound great when I put them on, and they still sound pretty good when I change them 3-4 months later.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price, June 12, 2009

I've tried all kinds of strings for my acoustic (a Seagull). Unfortunately for my wallet, these Elixirs are the ones I keep coming back to. I've given up trying other brands and I'm just gonna go with these from now on. When you find a good price, stock up because the quality can't be beat. And since they last longer (both physically and the tone of the sound), the value is actually pretty decent.

5.0 out of 5 stars brings an old guitar to life, December 2, 2007
This review is from: Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Electronics)
Amazing product! I replaced my strings (which were at least 2 years old, Martin strings) with these and I was blown away. It made a world of difference. Even though my guitar is entry level, having these strings make it sound amazing! Now maybe, it was because my strings were so old that the difference felt so dramatic, but I still think the Elixirs tend to ring louder and better than a lot of other strings. The nano coating can feel weird and a little slippery at first, but you'll get used to it.

If you have an entry level guitar, these will make your guitar sound so much better.

If you have a high end guitar, then you know you need the best.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ONLY Strings I Use, June 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Electronics)
I have been using these strings for 7 years now, since I began playing. At first, I was really apprehensive about them. I thought they were pretty expensive compared to other strings you can get for about $5. After all, they were only strings of metal, could there be much of a difference?

Elixir has so much more to offer than any other string. The tone and resonance are amazing, and on top of that these strings will not rust out easily. I originally used the polyweb coating, which was nice on my fingers - but the nanoweb is a definite improvement, since it is a thinner coating and slick for faster finger movements.

Regular strings always rust out pretty quickly for me. The tone doesn't last as long, within a few months the pitch turns into a "thunk", and I'm always, always, always re-tuning my guitar because they stretch so much.

I've had the same set of Elixirs on my second guitar for over a year now. There is absolutely no rusting and the tone is still there even though it is not as crisp.

I like the lights, because I don't play guitar as much as I used to, and the callouses on my fingers are not as thick.

And also, there have been times where I've had to perform short-notice and have actually changed my strings the day of. Usually strings take a day or two to stretch out, but with Elixirs I can literally string the guitar and go through a set without any fine-tuning.

Rather than changing your strings about every couple weeks, you can go months on end with an acceptable sound from the Elixirs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Strings at this price..., December 26, 2008
This review is from: Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Electronics)
I have over 15 years playing experience and I would not have any other strings on my guitar.

I have messed around with many different brands and even the $1/pack I found online (which I wanted to change half way through a set) but there is simply nothing else out there at this price which lasts as long, sounds as good and makes playing such a pleasure as these.

I play mostly acoustic guitar in a one man show and play anywhere from 2-5 hours, though the average is around 3 hours. I finger pick but mostly strum with medium thickness picks. I tune frequently to open chords and there never is a problem.

I never leave home without a few packs in my case in case a string breaks, but I rarely need them until I decide to change all my strings. They last a long time and never seem to loose their vibrant sound.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great, but G string doesn't last, August 4, 2008
This review is from: Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Electronics)
I've played with elixir strings since they first came out. I love the sound and the fact that they stay new for a long, long time. But it seems like about a year ago my g string started breaking way too early. I usually leave the strings on for about 3 months, but the g string has started breaking after about 1 month, or sometimes earlier depending on how much I play my acoustic. It breaks at the saddle and I make sure there are no burrs and that it's set up right, but it keeps breaking. I've talked to several other players in the area that have stopped using elixir for the same reason. If Elixir will get this fixed, I'll come back, but until then, I go with D'Addario DXR.

5.0 out of 5 stars not the cheapest, but definitely the best, April 22, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Elixir Light Nanoweb 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings (Electronics)
Elixir's may not be the cheapest strings out there... But unless you're a professional musician and you're changing your strings constantly anyways, these really are the way to go. I've heard some people say that they don't sound as good as X, Y or Z string... which may be true, but they are CONSISTENT. They sound pretty darn good out of the box, and they still sound that good after weeks and weeks (even months). Whereas some other strings may sound great at first, but after a couple days, start sounding dull...

I put these strings on my Saga Gitane guitar three months ago and they still sound great. I haven't noticed any physical wear, and they hold a tuning for days and days. They have a very nice, crisp sound and the high strings are especially sharp and clear. The coating feels great on the fingers and probably makes slides a little easier. They are a little pricey, but they probably last twice as long as cheaper strings. Highly recommended.
