5.0 out of 5 stars The best strings around
After trying out a few different types of strings for my Taylor, I decided the Taylor company had the right idea after all- nothing beats Elixirs. I figure the price is reasonable because not only do they last far longer than any other strings, they also feel a lot better on your fingers. I prefer the nanowebs to the polywebs because they're slicker and the top layer on...

3.0 out of 5 stars NanoWeb stay clean but
The Nanoweb strings do stay clean and they stand up but, on the negative side...

I replaced one string in my set with a nanoweb and noticed right away the feel was slippery. When picking my fingers would slip on the nano string rather than pluck. I will stick to cleaning my good old standard strings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Strings at this price..., December 26, 2008
This review is from: Elixir Strings Acoustic Guitar Strings, 6-String, Medium NANOWEB Coating (Electronics)
I have over 15 years playing experience and I would not have any other strings on my guitar.

I have messed around with many different brands and even the $1/pack I found online (which I wanted to change half way through a set) but there is simply nothing else out there at this price which lasts as long, sounds as good and makes playing such a pleasure as these.

I play mostly acoustic guitar in a one man show and play anywhere from 2-5 hours, though the average is around 3 hours. I finger pick but mostly strum with medium thickness picks. I tune frequently to open chords and there never is a problem.

I never leave home without a few packs in my case in case a string breaks, but I rarely need them until I decide to change all my strings. They last a long time and never seem to loose their vibrant sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars best strings on the market; don't give up too fast on them, October 3, 2010

This review is from: Elixir Strings Acoustic Guitar Strings, 6-String, Medium NANOWEB Coating (Electronics)
ok, so the first time I used Elixir Nanoweb strings I ended up taking them off after only 45 minutes of playing or so----they sounded extremely bright to me and my beautiful guitar now sounded like a shallow, metallic box. I had no idea why people raved about Elixirs . . . do people not care about tonal quality? 6 months or so passed, and for some reason I decided to give the Elixirs a second try. This time I left them on for 2 weeks (I play about 30 minutes to an hour a day). I think it was the 4th day or so that the strings finally mellowed out into their sweet spot; absolutely beautiful tonality! I've come to prefer the Phosphor Bronze over the 80/20 Bronze, as the PB's have a richer and more complex tone when compared to the more punchy 80/20s. A lot depends on your guitar, though. My suggestion would be to give these strings a decent chance by keeping them on your guitar a little while---don't give up too soon if these are initially brighter than you've experienced in the past. I think the coating makes them take slightly longer to stretch out and lose the initial super-brilliance.

*btw - these last a really long time, if you haven't already heard that. One big thing for me is how nice the strings are to my fingers, too, as I'm all over the neck w/ my playing style. These coated strings are not like saw blades chewing my callouses up, as regular strings are!

also, I once got a set with a bad string that had no resonance; I went to Elixir's website and left a brief comment explaining it, and within 4 days they not only had sent me a replacement string, but a whole new pack of strings! They always do that, so don't be afraid to let them know if you have problems!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Strings!, May 31, 2010

I was battling in my mind if I wanted to try to Nanoweb or Polyweb coating for my guitar and whether to get the medium or light gauge. After reviews and reviews online, I finally decided to just go ahead and try the Nanoweb mediums! (I have heard before that there is not much of a difference between coatings, but I will have to try the polyweb one day to test that theory).

I have never even got Elixir strings before. Only Martin strings. I am SO glad I decided to try them! From the moment I put them on I could tell a difference! For a couple of days, they will lose their tuning quickly as you play, but then they are extremely reliable and stay in tune! I have had them for about a month now and they sound just as good as when I first bought them.

The one negative thing I will say is that its sounds IS very bright (which this is not much of a negative at all). It is good, but at first compared to my other strings I wasn't sure if I liked it. However, they have a wonderful ring to them though... the chords ring out nice and clear.

The last thing I liked about them is that it definitely reduced some finger squeak from chord changes up the neck, which is one reason I want to also try the polyweb coating, but it was a little bonus that for sure helped!

5.0 out of 5 stars Impossible To Choose Just One!, August 20, 2011

I am a devout Taylor enthusiast... And they have it exactly right using Elixirs... My Grand Acoustic 914ce came with Light Nanowebs... And they are a dream to listen to and play. For me, I like to change my strings often between the Light Nanowebs, the Mediums, and the Phospor Bronze regularly. To me it's as good as having 3 different 914ce's. Something pretty exquisite that Elixirs offer that simply no other string can in both their handling and richness of tone. I find the Phosphors have a deeper soul to their sound... which I really love. Any Elixir string is a phonemonon all of it's own and you simply can't go wrong with any.

I love elixer strings. They have a bright sound until the day the snap. :) ...and I like the nanoweb the best. The polywebs peal and feel kinda nasty. They still sound good though. Excellent strings!

These strings lasted me 3 times longer than any others I've used(including Martin, D'addario, gHs, and several others). I bought these strings at the end of February, and now June 9th, they're still going strong! I normally change my strings every month. They are still bright sounding and bright looking. The only sign of wear is some of the coating coming off in my most played spots.

These strings are worth the extra price - I'd never buy anything else after using them!

I have a beautiful Takamine acoustic, but I wasn't able to get the tone I thought I should have using cheaper strings. So I gave in to the suggestion of a friend and bought the Elixir Nanowebs. They are well worth the price. Best sounding strings I have ever heard. A very rich tone with bright highs and deep lows. A must buy for anyone serious about their guitars.
