Elixr nanowebs are truly the Cadillac of bass strings. The tone is great, very deep lows and crisp highs. The nano-web coating seems to allow the strings to remain sharp for quite some time (provided you wipe your strings down after playing).

Back when I was in a touring band, playing 3 or 4 nights a week, I used Ken Smith strings. They were the cheapest I could find and I changed my strings often so I needed to save some dough. Now that I'm only playing a couple of times a month, I've switched to Elixirs. I probably play the same amount of gigs per set of strings as I used to, but now it takes me 6-months to play as many gigs as I put on the Smith's in a month and the Elixirs hold up better over time. Then again, if I was one of those players that wiped his bass down at the end of the night, cheaper strings would probably last me longer too. I'm just not that guy.BTW...If you're a 5-string player with a bass that loads the strings through the back, watch out for the Elixir 5th string being too short! |
