This review is from: Eliza Carthy & The Kings of Calicutt (Audio CD)
I'd have to say that Eliza Carthy and the Kings of Calicutt is good housecleaning music. Listening to this I can usually work up some enthusiasm for mopping. In other words, it's mostly uptempo, with a few good choruses to sing along to rather than attempts at vocal virtuosity. Eliza Carthy has a nice but not BIG voice and even on this where it's largely her singing, sometimes with backing singers, you can hear that she knows harmony singing. That gives it a sort of friendly, informal feel. So it's not a life-changing record, but it's a really good one nonetheless.
