This book is as valuable as a history lesson as much as a cook book. As much as WWII affected the Yanks, the Brits were at a whole different level. Seeing the substitutions and tips reminded me of how easy life is here. As for the recipes, most are interesting, but few are inspiring. I very much enjoy reading this book, but I read it more like a novel than as an instruction book.
