5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect solution for mess-free turkey brining!
I am so glad I found this item last year! It is a nice, heavy bag. The ziplocking mechanism works great and holds up very well.

Get a 5 gallon bucket (you can buy a brand new, clean one for cheap at many stores, incl. WM) and put the open bag in the bucket (sort of like you are lining the bucket). Lower the turkey in and then pour your brining solution in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful. Product Description Is Wrong
My rating is based on the description and not the actual product because I have not yet used it. I needed a large brining bag for a 22 pound turkey. The product description says, "Extra heavy weight with gusseted bottom for easier storage; holds up to a 25 pound turkey with brining solution". When the product arrived, it clearly states on the box that it will hold up...

Lower the turkey in and then pour your brining solution in and zip 'er up! Then you can just put the top on your 5 gallon bucket and put it in a cool place for the night. I laid some Cryopaks on top of the bucket to give it extra coolness and put it in my laundry room. It made it so easy. I believe I got that tip from Alton Brown.

My bucket didn't even get dirty. When it was time to rinse off the turkey I just brought the bagged turkey up to my sink, stood it up in the sink and ran water in it. Then I poked a hole in the back side of the bag (it's not like you are going to use it again!) and kept running water to get a good rinse. That way I didn't have to handle the raw poultry excessively (which skeeves me out big time!) and I was able to adequately rinse it before lifting it out and plopping that big dude into his roasting pan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Brining Bag, December 20, 2008

I was not sure what type of brining bag I would need for 16 lb turkey. Well, this bag was definitely big enough for any turkey size. Its sealed very easily and made brining a very simple task. Hope this helps to any who are not sure which product is best.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful. Product Description Is Wrong, November 22, 2010

My rating is based on the description and not the actual product because I have not yet used it. I needed a large brining bag for a 22 pound turkey. The product description says, "Extra heavy weight with gusseted bottom for easier storage; holds up to a 25 pound turkey with brining solution". When the product arrived, it clearly states on the box that it will hold up to a 20 pound turkey with brining solution. In my case, the 5 pound difference is a big deal since my turkey is over the 20 pound limit. It is a heavy bag and looks as if it will work great, just not for my 22 pound bird.

You have to make sure you ONLY seal this bag when you are absolutely certain that you are ready to do so. It is impossible to undo the zip once it is done. There was only 1 bag, not 2, so it's pretty expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for your Turkey, February 10, 2007

This turkey bag is perfect for brining large turkeys. We put the turkey in this bag and put it all into the roasting pan and into the refrigerator. The only problem with a bag, is that it will loose it's shape and the brining solution can all fall to the bottom. I think the instructions recommend clearing out your bottom refrigerator draw to put this and the turkey into. We used the deep roasting pan that we have. Bot would work equally well I think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worry no more - This bag is strong, sturdy, and mess free, December 21, 2010

I was a bit afraid to try this bag, but am happy to say that it was mess free and perfect for the 23 lb. turkey I brined for Thanksgiving. It was strong, sturdy, and kept the turkey submerged while sitting on the refrigerator shelf. Maybe the best part of all is that there's no mess to clean up.

You do need to take care not to overfill the bag with liquid, but sealing it up was simple enough. I was worried that it was TOO simple and wouldn't stay sealed, but it did and I'm back here on the site buying another one for this year's turkey.

This brining bag did a great job holding a 21 lb turkey & enough liquid to submerge it. I was afraid it might break but it was very strong!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brine bag, December 1, 2009

Great product!!! I put all the brine mixture (2 gallon) plus a 17 lb turkey in this bag into a large ice chest filled with ice and 24 hours later....I have a completely well-brine turkey. Bag held up well and not even a drop of liquid leaked so that is a sign of a great brining bag; I'll use the same brand again next year......

First ever attempt to brine a Thanksgiving turkey. The brining bag was plenty large enough for our turkey and all the brine necessary as well as being sturdy enough to handle the weight. The results were spectacular.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as they made it sound, December 7, 2007
This review is from: Elizabeth Karmel's 24-inch Turkey Brining Bag (Kitchen)
I followed the directions on the package EXACTLY this Thanksgiving when I used it to brine my turkey and the bag is nearly impossible to seal. I ran my fingers over the seal over and over again, it took me over 20 minutes to get the bag to FINALLY seal (After I got a load of brine all over me). It was a thick bag and appeared to be sturdy. Once I did finally get it to seal it did not leak, but I think I'll find a different brand of bag for the Christmas turkey.
