We love beer can chicken but when I learned the linings in beer cans contain bisphenol a that can leach into our food I was so happy to find this safer alternative. It's broader base makes the chicken more stable on the grill and it cleans up in the dishwasher. I looked at some of the metal versions but most come in two pieces where the column is welded or tacked to the base and several people made comments about some of them leaking over time. Not so with this ceramic version. I'm ordering a second one for when everyone comes for dinner.

easy to clean and hold up the bird well (unlike a beer can). I made one of my best chickens using this on a weber kettle grill

I rec'd one of these as a gift a couple of years ago . I love it. It works far better than a plain old can or wire frame one. Much easier to clean, just soak in hot water. I use it in the oven too and just drape one of those cooking bags over it loosely which prevents spatters all over the oven. Great gift, this year I bought seven!!

These are great items! A TON better than the cheap alternatives you'll find elsewhere! A little hard to clean without a dishwasher, but these things are great!

The wide bottom makes for a far more stable chicken for the grill or the oven. Especially good is that I can use any other liquids (wine, juice, stock, etc.) and herb/spice combos for lots of great flavors.

After seeing Traeger's "chicken throne" selling for over $30, I thought I'd check Amazon. I had purchased one but really wanted a second one. If you want the ceramic beer can chicken "throne", get this one. Shoot, get two. Except for the color, these are exactly the same as the ones Traeger is selling. The size is identical.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nicely stable holder for chicken, August 10, 2011

I purchased this after looking around at various types of chicken holders to use when making "beer can chicken". This one is ceramic so it's easily cleaned in the dishwasher. If you use some oil around the neck before putting the bird on it, the chicken will easily slip off once it's done cooking. It's nicely stable on the grill too. You will need to take care when moving the sitter back into the house after it has cooled. It's slippery and of course there are no handles. I move it to a plate so I don't accidentally drop it on the way in. I've made several chickens using this and it works great.

I ordered this gadget from Amazon.com and had it in 2 days and love it!! I used it the other day with about a 3 pound chicken and it was the best tasting chicken ever! It was so juicy and the skin was nice and brown and it was so easy to do! I like that it is flared at the bottom, unlike using one of those beer can sitters, because it keeps the legs of the chicken from dragging on the bottom of the pan and also holds it upright better! If you like roasted chicken, you will love cooking one on this!
