3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing too new/interesting; poor selection of photos
This chronicle has some interesting information I hadn't seen in other EM-related books; however, it mostly reads like a coffe table book on EM that was patched together with existing EM material.

And most of the EM photographs the author chose to include, in my opinion, aren't among EM's best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Our Elizabeth, June 6, 2006

This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
Elizabeth Montgomery is one of my idols and I'd always wished someone would write her biography. Now we have one...although I wouldn't call this book a biography in the traditional sense.

Elizabeth's story is told here in quotes, magazine articles and interviews previously given by Elizabeth and people who knew and worked with her. There are a great deal of interesting bits about Bewitched, especially obscure trivia that even diehard fans probably don't know, and some details about Elizabeth's ill-fated marriage to the odd actor Gig Young. This book also includes a lot of excellent photos of Elizabeth, many of which are from early in her career and before she became synoymous with Samantha.

I did learn a lot about my idol in reading this book, but because Elizabeth was a very private person, there are understandably a lot of holes that may never be filled.

Overall, I'm pleased with this book. True Elizabeth fans will like it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars LucyLvr...and Lizzie2, July 23, 2004
This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
I am a big fan of Lucille Ball and I Love Lucy and I also looovvee Liz Montgomery. She is soooooo beautiful. Bewitched is one of my favorite shows and I have watched every episode hundreds of times. I also love Lizzie's movies, but I like Bewitched best. After reading the book I love her more and more. There is so much information on her. I even gave it to my gramdmother to read because she says that all Hollywood stars are the same but not Lizzie. She was a class act, as my grandmother said when she finished the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't wait for the next edition!, July 1, 2004

This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
I was one of the lucky few who were able to get an advanced copy of this book which is supposed to come out this fall or next spring. I have been waiting for a book on Liz Montgomery for years. I loved watching Bewitched when I was a kid and I love all her television movies. I know that there are lots more people like me. This book is just wonderful. It is a real tribute to Liz who was a beautiful, wonderful person. I met her at the stage door of her show on Broadway and she was so lovely. Not at all like a star. This book shows Liz in all her beauty, her beauty outside and her inner beauty, too. The stories and pictures are fabulous and the part that has her own stories and quotes is the best. The author has much respect for Liz and had lots of interesting information. There is supposed to be a revised edition coming out with more stuff in it and I know lots of people are waiting anxiously for it. Thank you thank you thank you to the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow...I'm bewitched, May 20, 2004
This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
I am positively bewitched by this book. It contains a wealth of information, and is such a pleasant journey through a celebrated person's life. It is so enjoyable. What a woman Liz Montgomery was. And what a job done by this author. Some photos are of uneven quality, but they are still good enough to add greatly to this work. But it's the stories and the quotes and the little inside bits you get. Liz M was known as a very private person, fans know, but this is the first and a very nice comprehensive look into her life. More could be included about her later life, but that was when she really went private and concentrated on her television movies. Great for all members of the family, too. Watch the reruns of Bewitched, then read the book. Or read and watch at the same time. It's worth your time. Fans of Liz's father will enjoy, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love Lizzie, May 20, 2004

I am a huge fan of Bewitched and Elizabeth Montgomery and this book is fantastic. It is a really loving tribute to a beautiful lady. She left us way too soon, but she left us so much to remember her by. Thanks to the author for organizing so much material about this wonderful lady. I wish her movies were on more and I can't wait for the DVD's of Bewitched.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book About Elizabeth Montgomery, June 11, 2009
This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
This book is $300?????

Obviously, it is out of print. That is really too bad. Some other publisher should pick up the rights to Rita Piro's biography and republish it in normal size book form with better quality paper, etc.

That said, this is by far the most complete biography of beloved actress Elizabeth Montgomery. Crammed with facts from her entire, too short life, as well as family and never-before-seen pictures, this is the book all fans should read - and own. I have the fifth edition (2006) which I believe was the last. This is the only one with a 20-page interview with Richard Michaels, associate producer for five seasons, director of over 50 episodes and the man Elizabeth ran off with at the end of the eighth season.

I don't think many people will pay $200 or $300 for this book. If anyone in the publishing business out there is reading this, please buy the rights and publish this book properly.

If you want a collector's item, perhaps you can make a bid to someone who's willing to sell.

5.0 out of 5 stars Old Family Friends, May 31, 2005
By
This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
My Dad grew up in Patterson, NY which is the same town where Elizabeth Montgomery's family had a big home. He remembers her and her family as the nicest people. He remembers Elizabeth Montgomery as being one of the most beautiful girls he ever saw. He says that the whole family was so polite and well-mannered and were not at all the typical Hollywood type of people. You would never think that they were a rich or famous family. I git this book and really loved it myself and my Dad enjoyed the passages relating to the time the Montgomerys lived in New York. I bought this book because of my dady, but I enjoyed it and recommend it. There are lots of photos and lots of information and it is easy to read and enjoy. I loved Bewitched as a child and enjoyed reading the Bewitched section with the trivia and info about the show and cast. Elizabeth Montgomery passed away far too young and she was truly a great actress and as I learned from this book a honorable and decent human being. I hope the new movie does her justice.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE BEGUILING MS. MONTGOMERY, January 26, 2007
This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
I was too young to see Bewitched when it was on in the sixties, but I developed a crush on "Sam" in reruns, she was just so charming, sexy, and beautiful, I later saw her in a movie in which she played a woman that had been assaulted, I was like eight, and I was really upset, I mean my Sam was being beat up, but she was fantastic in the role, so different than her Bewiched part, then later on I saw her, in this movie that she played this shrew, she was mean as hell, and she was spectacular. This book is an odd mix of familar stories and it tries to get into what made this iconic woman tick..it's not a total success, Ms. Montgomery was a VERY private person and she gave very few interviews, I guess that comes from growing up with a famous father and her early huge success. At any rate, good read, but we really never understand the enigma that is Elizabeth Montgomery, but that is how she wanted it, it adds to her mystic I suppose.

5.0 out of 5 stars My teen dream, February 23, 2005
This review is from: Elizabeth Montgomery: A Bewitching Life (Paperback)
Liz Montgomery was one of my boyhood dreams. She still is. (Yes, my wife knows, but she's a fan, too.) Bewitched was a truly great show. So innovative and well done for its time. It was a cut above the usual 60's sitcom, especially the balck and white episodes which we hardly saw in syndication and can now see on cable tv.

This book is a nice look at Liz's life. She was definitely NOT your typical Hollywood star. Neither was her father, so the fruit really didn't fall far from that tree. Nice stories, Liz was the type of star who could set a great example for those celebritis of today.

Enjoyablebook, nice pictires. Nice trivia on Bewitched, including lots of things the average viewer, including me, never knew
