5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, October 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Elizabethan Costumes Paper Dolls (History of Costume) (Paperback)
This paper doll set was purchased by me for my collection, and it has definitely filled it's purpose. I enjoyed it immensely, and even my sister liked it. We both found it in great likeness to the movie, "Shakespeare In Love" and although that's a bit far fetched, it was a great set anyway. The costumes are very well researched and were a delight for me to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars Portraits Made Accessible, July 19, 2005

The illustrations in this book once again demonstrate Tom Tieney's knack for making complicated historical costumes understandable and accessible. Most of these beautifully detailed costumes are taken from famous portraits. Mr. Tierney always gets the lines and important details correct. There is some amazing and subtle detail in the brocades and lace fabrics shown, and it could not have been an easy job to render or print. Excellent reference for dolls or historical costume.

4.0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFUL!!, February 24, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Elizabethan Costumes Paper Dolls (History of Costume) (Paperback)
Once again Tom Tierney has produced a beautiful collection of gowns and clothing. This period addition is detailed, colorful, and true to what has been seen in paintings. The only drawbacks are the costumes are done on the thinner glossy paper and the book is actually smaller in size than some of his other older books. Please check-out his "Great Fashion Designs of the Twenties or Thirties or Forties" books which have a copyright dates of 1983, 1984 and 1987 for the larger size and card stock paper type books (purchased in 2005-2006). Or his "Glamorous Movie Stars of the Thirties" copyright date of 1978 (purchased in 2007) for the smaller size book but done on card stock paper.
All and all I do recommend this for anyone interested in this era of clothing.
