This book provides a very interesting and informative perspective on one of the most common and preventable public health problems in this century, coronary artery disease. The authora physicandescribes his life before, during, and after his heart attack and successful bypass surgery. He skillfully interweaves small subchapters on normal and abnormal heart anatomy and physiology, the prevention and diagnosis of coronary artery disease, and the different therapies available. His writing is well-paced; his narrative is frank but free from emotionality and exhortation. The information on heart function and disease is current and technical but highly understandable for the general reader. Highly recommended for both public and medical libraries.Mark L.
