I should begin by stating the fact that I in no way understand why kitchen products cost as much as they do, nor do I understand the appeal of spending a lot of money for prestige products. I blame a lot of that on HGTV, which I admit to watching, but also resent as an attempt at mass marketing in the guise of informative programing.

The price of this sink when I bought it had dropped to around $80, which made it a great price for what I assume is a better quality sink than the standard Home Depot products (there is a $99 sink/faucet combo available, but I already have a faucet I can use). As I write this, the price is around $100 more than I paid, which to me seems too much for a basic bar sink. I was expecting to be dazzled by the wonder of a sink with a list price of $243, but in fact, other than the angled corners and "Celebrity" logo, it doesn't seem particularly amazing. In fact the finish is a bit rough along one edge, which would have annoyed me a lot more had I paid more. I do like the fact that it is a bit deeper than some bar sinks I've seen, and this one is also available (at better prices) with one or two holes. It seems well made other than the small area that is a little less smooth than the rest of it.

There seems to be a wide range of models/prices for Elkay sinks. My suggestion would be to compare the gauge of the steel (this one is 20 gauge), and shop around. I believe there are quite a few less expensive options with other brand names, but without seeing them, I can't compare. If you are looking for the one or two hole models, and really want an Elkay sink then you'll probably very happy with this one. (Note that this is just the sink, and the drain fitting/faucet need to be purchased separately - some sinks come with one or both of those items included.)
