This is a great selection of songs sung with various artists. The first five songs are with Louie Armstrong, the next four with The Ink Spots, the next five with Louis Jordan, the next three with The Delta Rhythm Boys, and the last two with the Mills Brothers. All the songs are great arrangements with a young Ella singing.

Wonderful collection of duets with the fabulous "baby it's cold outside" and many many more. A genuine favourite.

Ella is truly one of the masters of jazz. Her comforting sounds compliment almost any mood or situation. Ella and Friends is a great introduction to her duets with Verve from 1944 - 1951, still the early years of Ella. Her voice is still very young and very feminine, without the earthy richness she acquires in later years.

While the tracks with Louis Armstrong are classics, the others are more hit and miss. Other classic Ella includes anything with Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald: First Lady of Song, and the songbooks.

And she is pretty great herself- the greatest female vocalist ever ....at least, I think so. And this album will show you why - the songs are just perfect for a singer of Ella's range and caliber - when Ella sings, you know exactly what the lyricist had in mind. This is one terrific collection of Singers and Songs - a must have for any lover of the Great American Songbook.

This is a great summer CD! It's true Ella style and the song selections are fabulous. Frim Fram Sauce and Who walks in while I walk out are hilarious songs that I just adore. If you're just starting to experiement with Jazz or Ella, this is the CD to get! It's wonderful!

This is a really nice Ella selection. It's a favorite for replayability. There are probably better albums, but this one has variety and plenty of hits.
