PreS-Gr 1--Elmer, the colorful patchwork elephant, reveals a sense of humor as he shows a herd of gray elephants that cold and warm are relative terms. When the others complain that they feel cold on a cooler than usual day in the jungle, Elmer leads them on a journey up to snow-covered mountains where they cavort in the snow and ice. Home again, they are now better able to appreciate their warm jungle home. This gentle story is sure to please children. The illustrations use a few subtle line changes in facial expression and body language to show a range of emotion and mood. A delightful picture book.

Upbeat fun even for two-year olds,
By A Customer
This review is from: Elmer in the Snow (Elmer Books) (Hardcover)
My two-year old loves the bright bold illustrations of Elmer the patchwork elephant, his five gray elephant friends and their bright blue tag-along birds. The story is fun and playful, however, the text is a too wordy for my daughter to follow. I paraphrase the story when reading it to her, but it is fine for a four-year olds as recommended.I like the fun, upbeat story which includes a lesson on relativitiy (it may feel cool today, but it's warm compared to the snow) and a little trick by Elmer which adds interest for young readers.

Love the book!,
This review is from: Elmer in the Snow (Hardcover)
My 3 years and 9 months old loves it, and more importantly I LOVE IT! It's one of those few books that I as a parent am so pleased to be asked to read. Brightly and intelligently illustrated. Good story line. Fun, fun, fun.
