5.0 out of 5 stars Very durable.
This product can be applied similarly to plaster/spackling compound, but is much less fragile, and slightly easier to work with. I can fill large holes in walls with it quickly, because it is less liquid and stickier than the alternatives. 3.0 out of 5 stars different, but usable
I couldn't find the Elmer's wood putty I'd had before. This has a different texture, but I can use it. Just takes a little getting-used-to. Basically, Elmer's is good for patching sheetrock and even oversized holes drilled in tile, as well as wood. They could call it Spack-All if they wanted to. It'll hold a screw in any material.

I can fill large holes in walls with it quickly, because it is less liquid and stickier than the alternatives. It starts off being a lot like Floam [...], but once the moisture has evaporated, it is more like a very dense hardwood, or a slightly porous rock. I like this stuff a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best wood filler out there!!!, April 16, 2011
This review is from: Elmer's E892 Stainable Wood Filler 1-Quart (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is by far the best wood filler on the market.

It dries completely where most other fillers on the market stay putty like and never get hard. It has a grit to it so it sands down properly after setting but applies smoothly like a paste.

To the other negative reviews, this is not made for large patching, although you can lay it in stages for that purpose, and it is made to be stained or painted over once cured. Keep in mind that this is a filler for small to medium defects and not a patch repair kit.

It is great for repairing plywood facings and hiding screw holes.

The quart size tub is great if you need to repair several sheets of CDX plywood and it has an opened shelf life of about 3 to 5 weeks, as long as the top is put back on tightly.

This seems like a good product. It was easy to work with and seems similar to other putty products I've worked with in the past. I actually painted over it as opposed to staining, but it worked fine for my needs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked to fill some wood, August 11, 2011

I used this product to fill in some scratches and holes that my lovely dogs chewed into our banister and trim. It is a little difficult to get it to stick to the wood and isn't the most malleable substance ever, but after some trial and error I found it easy to build up the wood excessively with the filler and then sand it down to the natural wood's level. After doing this twice in each spot I was able to get a very level finish that looked great after painting it. I also found it easier to simply use my fingers than a putty knife.

It clears says Interior/Exterior on the label. But, whenever it rains the whole thing gets disolved. I even contacted the manufacturer using their web about 2 weeks ago. So far, no one contacted me.
Misleading product, Bad customer service!
Very disappointed.
