Book Description

The Elmo Jenkins Trilogy includes all three full length Elmo Jenkins novels.

Ordained Irreverence
Some Things Never Change
The Old Man and the Tea

You get over 700 pages of hilarious anecdotes, touching stories, and spiritual insights all woven into the day-to-day life of young minister, Elmo Jenkins.

Here’s what readers are saying:

“This book [Ordained Irreverence] was a joy to read. It was full of humor and heart. The characters came to life between the pages and reminded me of all the diverse people you find within the walls of the church. It made me smile as we see through the characters the creativity of God.”

“The Elmo Jenkins books are some of the most entertaining books I have ever read. I can't put them down.”

“I have read...no-devoured both books 1 & 2. They are every bit as much fun as the previously unmatched Mitford series. I hope to read more of this series very soon.”

You’re sure enjoy Elmo’s adventure from beginning to end. OBT Bookz

5.0 out of 5 stars So Glad This Had All Three! January 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This fun, poignant book reveals the warts and all of a young man who loves God. Travel with him through completing seminary and the challenges that come. I appreciated how the main character doesn't take life too seriously, expressing a great sense of humor. But when life takes a serious turn, he seeks God first, with humility. I enjoyed these books so much!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read! September 19, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I read each of the three books seperately and loved every one. Mr. Moody writes in a way that makes all the characters seem like friends. Having all three books under one cover gives the reader the opportunity to keep reading without waiting for the next book. You won't be able to put this book down! The stories are funny and serious - very true to what's happening in churches today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great laugh and cry stories December 25, 2013
By Anita
Format:Kindle Edition
I read the books separately not in this trilogy. Every story is an enjoyable trip into Elmo's life. Most of the stories will have you laughing out loud but occasionally there are some sad stories. The church is full of real people that remind you of at least a few folks you already know. I highly recommend this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elmo Entertained & Taught! December 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Being in Christian service was not a prerequisite to appreciating these books but the author sure captured the spirit of the inner-workings of church workers! Despite being a work of fiction, these books delivered a “true to life” story with a deep message to boot! Not only did they entertain magnificently, they did so with an insight that was funny yet God-honoring! Great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for anyone in Ministry January 27, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I laughed, I sighed...I loved this book. I truly mourn that it's ended. I loved Elmo with all of his quirkiness. The lighthearted mixed with the serious is a good description of the author's writing style. I so will miss each and every character. I plan to read everything that McMillan Moody has written, and if the other books are even half as good, I won't be wasting my time. I think that even if you aren't a churchgoer, you will enjoy the antics of Elmo, Eddie, and the rest of the crew at First Church.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK November 12, 2013

It's an OK read. The characters are likeable. But, there seems to be something "forced" or "staged" in much of the humor. It just doesn't feel natural. I've started the 2nd book. It's pleasant reading, but it's not one of those books that I hate to put down to get back to living my life. I do like the characters, and it is wholesome.
