I agree the book is very cute and fun to read and splash with. However, in laboratory tests it was found to contain phthalates - chemicals commonly used as plasticizers (to make toys soft). Phthalates are toxic substances, especially for children, since they can affect development.

It is wrong of the manufacturer to put a "non toxic" label on a product that actually contains toxic substances. We threw ours out.

Just received this two days ago and my son has requested this book in the bath and out, he LOVES it and so do we! It's short, sweet and just adorable. Don't hesitate, this is all thumbs up!

Our 14-month-old daughter LOVES this book! It is the perfect length for her (she loses interest in longer books with more text) and has an excellent, catchy rhyme to each page. Because we have dogs, she recognizes the illustration of Elmo's puppy as a dog and excitedly "woofs" at it. When seated on my or my husband's lap during reading time, she will hand this book to us over and over to read over and over. Sometimes she boinks us in the face with the book while doing this, but that's okay--it's made of cushiony foam covered in soft plastic! It will not make your toddler cry if he/she falls on it!

My year old grandson loves Elmo and he really loves this book. At this age they are fasinated by puppies too so the account of Elmo giving the dirty puppy a bath is very appealing to him. It is also a vinyl, water-proof book, so he like to take it in the bathtub with him.

Great book for bath time or the high chair. It's easy to clean. It makes a great filler when you want the free shipping.

My 7 month old son loves this book. He loves to flip the pages and chew on the book. We take it with us everywhere. It's always a fuss-stopper.

This book is six sentences long. I'm not looking for War and Peace, but six sentences? My son (12 months) has no interest in the the artwork or story, and the only value to me is that I know I can now have a career as a children's author with the bar this low. If you haven't bought Water, Water Everywhere (Baby Einstein), buy it and skip this waste of money.

My daughter is 20 months old and loves Elmo. We read this book every night in the bath to her. She loves books and has enjoyed having an Elmo book at bath time.

This is my baby boys favorite book...nice bright colors which really hold his attention. He LOVES it when I pull out the Elmo book and is not too interested in some of the other bathtub books with softer colors.
