4.0 out of 5 stars Eloquent Silence
I know this is one of her earlier books, so keeping that in mind, this is a good story. It is a good old fashioned romance. I really like the introduction of the hearing impaired character. It isn't something common, and added to my interest to learn something.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok! Don't shoot me!
Soap star and hunk (Drake Rivington) + deaf daughter (Jennifer) + deceased wife/ballerina (Susan) + secrets + pretty "red headed" teacher (Lauri) = romance and love. That's about it. The secret I guessed early on, the romance was a given and the story is ok. You can read it about a day. It is not to heavy or hard to understand...something to take your mind off your...

I know this is one of her earlier books, so keeping that in mind, this is a good story. It is a good old fashioned romance. I really like the introduction of the hearing impaired character. It isn't something common, and added to my interest to learn something.

Lauri Parrish is a teacher for hearing impaired students at a private school in which Drake's daughter Jennifer attends. Drake Rivington is an actor on a very popular daytime drama. When he finds out his daughter needs a home environment to grow, he immediately finds a way to lure Lauri to work for him, and help Jennifer. As Drake divides his time between his acting career and his family, we see his constant struggle to give his best to both worlds.

I learned alot about the hearing impaired community, and appreciated this story. It was heartwarming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Love Story, June 9, 2001
Eloquent Silence, a reprint novel from Sandra Brown, is a sweet and endearing love story. Drake Rivington is a popular soap opera star, who is still trying to get over his deceased wife. Drake has a young daughter, Jennifer, who is deaf. Feeling that Jennifer needs a tutor to help her Drake hires Lauri Parrish, a teacher for the deaf. Lauri moves into Drake's house to help Jennifer, while Drake is on location for the soap opera. Sparks fly when Drake comes home for a break from his work. Eloquent Silence is a love story that will pull you in and grab hold of your heart. It is so easy to love Jennifer and wonderful to see her learn how to sign and even speak some words. While the little girl is winning your heart, her father and Lauri are falling in love. How sweet a novel!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Easy reading brings warm feelings!, January 16, 2000
All soap opera fans will love this book! The handsome leading man of the most popular soap falls for a teacher, who could be you or me! That is the charm of this book! Total fantasy with some great love-making scenes. And the story ends the way we all wanted it to! This was my first Sandra Brown book and I am looking forward to more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story. Best novel I ever read., March 1, 1999
By A Customer
The author did good research on learning the deaf kids communication skills and the tools which are used. I believed the characters, the challenges they had and you look at this story as a true story, you learn from it and that's why it's so enchanting.

From the first time that Lauri and Drake met until the final kiss, this book had me captivated by its well-written plot andpoignant words. This book was not like any other Sandra Brownnovel. Jennifer's character was an added spice to the
book. Bravo Sandra Brown!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love IT, November 27, 2007
This is one of the best romance books that Sandra Brown has written. I love books about star crossed lovers. This book also gives us a small insight to the world of a deaf child and the family relationships that evolve around them (even though you can't this a normal family).

4.0 out of 5 stars A SWEET ROMANCE, November 15, 2011
ELOQUENT SILENCE
By Sandra Brown

Copyright 1982 by Sandra Brown
Publisher: Warner Books, Inc.
261 Pages

Sandra Brown has written a beautiful love story with three beautiful characters. It is fast reading and good for escape.

Lauri is a "goody two-shoes" teacher of the deaf who becomes the private tutor of adorable Jennifer, a toddler who is hearing impaired. Jennifer is daughter of a sexy soap opera star who likes to bate Lauri. Of course Drake and Lauri fall in love, but not without complications and miscommunications.

As a fan of soap operas, I enjoyed the characterization of Drake, but I fell totally in love with Jennifer. Ms. Brown wrote her with tender sensitivity. Lauri I liked, but she felt luke-warm to me. The plot was sweet and simple, just what I needed right now.

If you like romance novels, this book will satisfy your appetite. If you need a romantic fantasy to escape real life, this novel is just what the doctor ordered! Lots of sexual love scenes.

I won this book at Goodreads.com. This is a Goodreads.com First Reader book.

1.0 out of 5 stars BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, January 12, 2007
This review is from: Eloquent Silence (Audio Cassette)
Was this supposed to be a romance? Could have fooled me. Charaters without depth, a lame plot, a total waste of time and money. Very disappointed in this one!
