2.0 out of 5 stars If You Like People Bashing Elton...
If you like to hear people bash Elton for an hour, then this DVD is for you! While the description of the DVD says "...it's sometimes forgotten that Elton John has written some of rock music's greatest and best loved songs," you wouldn't know it from watching this.

I didn't think it was possible, but they actually found a way to pan the album "Goodbye Yellow...

This review is from: Elton John: Rock Case Studies (DVD)
If you like to hear people bash Elton for an hour, then this DVD is for you! While the description of the DVD says "...it's sometimes forgotten that Elton John has written some of rock music's greatest and best loved songs," you wouldn't know it from watching this.

I didn't think it was possible, but they actually found a way to pan the album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"

The DVD goes through each album and basically says why it's awful. Well, it goes though every album up through "Too Low For Zero" and then randomly sums up the DVD. I think it may be because the film footage that they use during the entire DVD is from a 1983 concert, and well, they wouldn't have any footage of songs from any album after 1983!

Oh, and on the description it also says, "There are memorable contributions from singer and songwriter Kiki Dee..." She did not appear once in the whole DVD. There wasn't one woman in the whole DVD...not even a man who looked like a woman.

The only good thing about the DVD is the guy who sits at the piano who dissects some of Elton's songs musically. Like, why the way Elton plays an "A" is different than how someone else might. There is also a creepy comparison of "Rocket Man" to "The Great Gig in the Sky" by Pink Floyd.
