Bought this for my wife, a huge Elton fan. She says it's "a wonderful book, great pictures and copy. Mainly historical, which is great." She said paper is nice and glossy and thick, of very high quality. The brand new paper pages did stick together when the pages were first turned as one reviewer notes. It did not tear, however, and was of markedly high quality. My wife intends to buy another copy of this book immediately as a present for her brother (another huge Elton fan). Amazon has a very good price on this item, by the way.

A Must For The Serious Elton Fan!,
This review is from: Eltonography (Hardcover)
This book is awesome. It primarily covers Elton from the early 70s, through is heyday in the mid-70s, and also goes into the 80s. Most of the photos have never been published before, so it's a real treat to step back in time.
One reviewer said that his pages stuck together and that the pages tore. I did not have that experience at all. My book was in great shape.

This excellent book has no mistake!!! Are pages sticked? YES. For the first time when You are watching them one by one. It is because of used "parcial UV lacquer". This is polygraphical method to make printed photos very glossy and You think the phography is real (not just as printed part of paper page). After the first watching page by page the pages will have no sticker effect anymore. Also there will be no deffects on the paper or pages.
I've marked with 5 stars. Not at least - In comparsion PRICE vs Quality this book is worth by 10 stars.

Rocket Man,

Elton John's stage persona has always been flamboyant. Be it his nuptials to longtime partner David Furnish,or his plans to make "Pride and Prejudice and Predator",he's been over-the-top. "Eltonography",chronicled by close friend Terry O'Neill, shows him wearing feathers and sequins onstage,as well as his more private persona.
"Eltonography" is a glossy coffee table book, perfect for perusing. It's as much a delight as going down the Yellow Brick Road.

I bought this for a friend's Christmas gift. She is a huge Elton fan going way back to the start. She loved the book saying that there were a lot of photos that she'd never seen in there. She had to be off work to have surgery and she had this to look at to help keep her busy. Amazon's price was also about 1/2 of what it was in the bookstore, which is where I'd first seen it.

I purchased this book for my boyfriend as an upcoming Christmas gift. He is a collector of Elton & Elvis and is really hard to buy for because he has everything. As soon as I opened it, I knew I could not keep it in the plastic until Christmas, so needless to say, he ended up getting it the day it arrived. Its a great book for any Elton fan. Very cool photos of some seen and several unseen. We both liked the glossy pages and were careful after reading other reviews of the pages sticking, however we had no problem. I think anyone that loves Elton, will love this book to add to their collection!

This book is much larger and higher quality than I expected. The photos are printed on quality glossy paper and extremely sharp with no flaws. The collection covers Elton from the early days to the present - although (and thankfully) the book focuses on the early to mid Seventies.
As others have noted, the pages tend to stick together a bit as you first browse the book, but simply turning page by page easily frees them... not a problem. I suspect this is a side effect of the glossy paper, and well worth tolerating. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that the one thing th book lacks (in my opinion) is a little more text to go along with the photos. There are brief captions, but surely there must be some interesting back stories and antecdotes to go along with some of these great photos. But even without that... it is a must for any Elton John fan, and a bargain at the price.

I received this book as a Christmas gift, and it did not disappoint! I am a hardcore Elton fan and have been for most of my life. I was not around for his rise to stardom in the 70s, unfortunately, but this book feels like the next best thing. I have seen so many pictures in print and on the internet from the entire length of his career. However, in this book there are an incredible number of photographs that I have never seen before, or I'd only seen as one part of a set that I'd never seen before. It is a hefty coffee-table style book, and the quality of the print is excellent. The typography is nicely designed and unobtrusive, emphasizing the photography as it should. The extremely clear photos are a joy to behold and beautifully glossy. A caveat: the glossy coating does make the pages stick together the first time you crack open the book. Just be gentle, and they should come apart easily. The text is also very interesting and informative, and made me feel very nostalgic reading it! For the price, this book feels like it should be much more expensive. I will cherish my copy and will be compelled to go through and look at the photos again and again. Really a must-have if you love Elton!
