This review is from: The Elvenbane: An Epic High Fantasy of the Halfblood Chronicles (Hardcover)
Elvenbane was the first book i read by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey. My mother has collected Andre Norton books for years and one day I decided to read Elvenbane. It was during the summer and Elvenbane is the very first book that has had me striving for more. Each time I had to put the book down i would rush through everything else just so I could get back to the book. When the book ended I wanted more and was very glad ^_^ to find out that there was a second book ElvenBlood and I got started on it right away. Now im waiting for the third book to come out. When I was told there was a third book I jumped out demanding to know when! "Elvenborn" I don't think i can wait until April. There is even a book after Elvenborn. Elvenbred. The Characters and events made me laugh, become frustrated, and made every other emotion come through. Just what a good piece of literature is supposed to do and show how great the authors are. So I strongly recommend this book to those wondering if they should read it.

With two such gifted authors, this book couldn't help but be great. It lived up to all my expectations, with unforgettable characters and a well paced story. The dragons were intriguing, not being the usual "bad" kind. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to read something that they will long remember.
Not sure why this is showing I only gave 1 star...it should be 4 stars at least.

I have read all of Andre Norton's books, a couple months ago I thought this to be true and was rather saddened that I would never again be allowed to discover one of her spellbinding stories as found in "The Iron Cage", "The Beastmaster", or "Black Trillium". Naturally I was overjoyed when I found my thinking to be in error; as I was browsing through the library I happened upon "Elvenbane" and thus embarked on another adventure that certainly lived up to my expectations in every way. I have since also read "Elvenblood", the sequel to this amazing novel. Mercedes Lackey is also starting to make some waves on the sci-fi scene, and her styles compliment those of Andre Norton so well, yet add a flavor of diversity to the stories, just enough to let you know that without the collaboration of these two great minds this trip into the realms of the imagination would never have been possible. I hope you will enjoy these books as much as I have, and if you have not already read Andre Norton's books just know that you are really missing out!

I hope to see more of Shauna's Chronicles from these ladies. The first book came highly recommended to me, and I was impressed by the knowledge and detail put into it. I was pleasantly surprised to notice 'Elvenblood' in my local book store. I've never really been into reading much, these are the first novels I've been able to get into, and I couldn't put them down. I would pass on the high recommendation I recieved to anyone.

This book was wonderful. It took me about 3 or 4 months to find a paperback though. I had already read Elvenblood and was hooked. Somewhere along the line after I found it, I heard talk of a third book in the series.. Is this true? If you know, E-mail me at Lizard174@aol.com.. Back on the subject, I loved this book, and all Ms. Norton's books that I own. She and Mercedes Lackey are two of the most talented writers whose work I have read over and over again.

Having a great love of both Elf and Dragon stories this book and its sequel were refreshing and new to me. The details put forth were wonderful and still stick with me today. The small but important points that the authors carried from one book to the other makes this book all the more enjoyable. Do not pass up on the chance to read Elevnbane and its sequal Elvenblood!

The way they changed an almost over played godd creature like the elves, into a cruel and hateful society is refreshing and new. The authors are not eddings or R. Jordan, but the books are still an enjoyable read.
