This book is all about the infamous Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport ,Louisiana. Many of us went to this venue every Saturday night and what fun it was. This was Elvis's early days,a great read, and actually this book was pulled from bookstores over a lawsuit!Lucky for us some are still out there!

Elvis the Louisiana Hayride years 1953-1956;

This book is a nice pictorial display of Elvis's time on the Hayride. The book it's self is really more of a scrap book featuring fan photos, Elvis's Hayride contracts, concert posters, live shots and some Elvis hand written letters to fans.

Some of the other Hayride stars contributed commentary to the book typically a paragraph or less like Slim Whitman, Norm Bale (Hayrides announcer from 1953 - 1971), Jim Ed Brown, Betty Amos, Jeanette Hicks, Jimmy Lee and a few others. There are some short contributions by fans. The book also has a brief chronicling of Elvis's life from his date of birth up to his Hayride years.

There isn't much in the way of reading here. The book can be read in a couple hours of you don't stop to look at the photography or the other items pictured.

The book it's self has a very polished look, nice design. The publishers used a good glossy paper throughout the book. Nice creative design throughout. I would have like a little more history on the Hayride shows but other then that a top notch publication and good coffee table book. This will provide something of interest for your house guests to look at. Long after you have finished it. Author Joey Kent has done an outstanding job putting this all together.
