Elvis and Priscilla Barbie Doll Giftset

I was lucky enough to get my Elvis and Priscilla dolls for a lesser price than this particular retailer is asking. Your best bet, however, would be to buy the dolls from Amazon as they are impossible to find in brick-and-mortar stores (such as Walmart, Target) after selling-out of them in early August.

The dolls are beautiful and nicely packaged. They are NOT positioned hand-in-hand like in the picture, but rather side-by-side in the box. The dolls are 11.5 inches high which makes them as tall as your average Barbie.

Mattel did both Priscilla and Elvis justice in making the dolls look very real; so often we see dolls made to look like their famous originals and don't even come close in likeness. Elvis and Priscilla were/are very beautiful people and the dolls certainly duplicate their likeness.

As far as durability goes, well, if you keep them in their box [as they were meant to be] they should be fine, though I highly recommend plastic casing to preserve the rather high value they [most certainly] will attain in the future. My box was not seeled all the way around leaving open gaps in the box allowing dust to get in - further proving the need for a case. However, if you are going to let the kiddies play with these dolls, they should hold up just as well as your average Barbie doll. Priscillas hair will probably get knotted/matted with child's play.

For educational value I gave these dolls 3 stars for the brief wedding bio on the box and for the replication of the Priscilla's wedding gown, Elvis' paisley tux and boots (Priscilla's feet cannot be seen without opening the box so I am unsure what type of shoe she's wearing), and their wedding bands - hey, this is history! There are also 2-3 wedding photos on the box.

My overall rating was 4 stars simply because I would have preferred Elvis's hair to have been fabric (like Priscilla's) instead of plastic. I do believe the reasoning behind the plastic is so that the hair keeps hold of Elvis' famous swooped-'do and shine. Besides that, these dolls in my opinion, are just fantastic. I am sure any bride/groom would be happy to receive this set as a gift.

These dolls will certainly be a treasure to fans, Barbie collectors, and the young and old at heart.

This toy was not purchased for a child. It was purchased for an Elvis fan. It was a Christmas present for her. She really loved it and it is a collectable. I am so glad that I was able to find it for her.

The dolls are GREAT!! Perfect condition and they really are a nice addition to my ELVIS collection.

This are absolutely beautiful dolls. They really look like Elvis and Priscilla. I recommend them to both Barbie collectors and Elvis lovers.

This item was way overpriced but hard to find at the time. I wish I had waited a few months to purchase it. Now the price is more reasonable.But the dolls arrived in perfect condition.

Awesome, never collected Barbies before this!!! Had to have the most famous couple of all!!! Definite collector's item!!!

Why does Mattel insist on poking a hole through every fine fabric costume on collectible dolls with a needle and thread?

After the millions of dolls they have sold, could their staff devise a way to keep the doll in the box without having to sew the dress to the box?

Even if the collector wishes to display the doll outside the box, they must try to carefully remove the thread - which still leaves the hole poked through the fabric in front of Priscilla's gown, on the right side toward the back, and at the bottom of the gown.

All in all, the giftset is a desirable one due to the resemblance of the couple, but really, why would someone pay this much money for a doll's wedding gown with holes punched through the fabric?

By the way, I bought my giftset for $65 plus $7.95 shipping through the Mattel collectibles catalog, then I found it for $59 at WAL-MART, just two days ago. So the dolls are still in stock in this part of the west.
