Shot by Bonja - an upclose view of The King,
By Susanne Vrenken (the Netherlands) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Elvis Shot by Ed Bonja (Paperback)
I was very happy to receive a book all Elvis, just the way he was and no superfluous texts or information we already heard thousants of times. I ordered 'Shot by Bonja' before it came out. It turned out the way I expected it to be. The cover on itself almost makes you wanna have the book! A wonderful medium live-shot. The pictures inside it are just great. I love the expression on Elvis' face while on stage. Very controlled and very beautiful. Even though not all pics are that clear and sometimes even a little blurry (I wonder if anything can be done about it, and if so, I believe Bonja would have)it is the most to see The Man on stage. Also the pictures are all colour! My favourites are the ones of Elvis in a black suit which you don't see too often. Bonja made me feel a little closer to Elvis because he shares HIS memories, wonderful pictures and no lies. It is great to see the pictures all together and I wanna congratulate Mister Bonja for the great job! I hope there'll be more on the way!

Great expectations that are not met,
By EPshots@yahoo.com (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Elvis Shot by Ed Bonja (Paperback)
Ed Bonja has unequalled acess to his subject Elvis Presley. His "uncle" was Presley's manager Colonel Tom Parker. Many of Bonja's photographs (the better ones) were used on record sleeves and tour merchandise--the rejects (the lousy ones) seem mostly to comprise this book.Blurred, dark, unflattering, etc. The presentation also leaves alot to be desired. In fact at least one full-page photo is presented TWICE. A great possibility shortchanged. Most people I know agree.Still, there are a few images that are grand, simply because it's Elvis.

JUST BEAUTIFUL!,

The pictures of Elvis in this book are breathtaking! You feel as though you can just reach out and touch him. Ed Bonja has done a beautiful job of capturing Elvis at his best on stage. If you're an Elvis fan- this is a worthwhile book to own.

Picture Quality Very Disappointing,
By A Customer
This review is from: Elvis Shot by Ed Bonja (Paperback)
Ed Bonja could and should have done much better for himself and for Elvis. The reproduction quality of Mr. Bonja's photographs in this book is the major disappointment, but it should also be pointed out that if you are a fan who has purchased photographs from Mr. Bonja, then you will already have many of the photographs in this book, and you will certainly notice the difference in quality. Ed Bonja's photographs are typically soft focus shots, and, therefore, inferior reproduction is more noticable. With today's technology and the ability to enhance picture quality, there is no excuse for printing less than the original undoctored quality. One more thing... the.. price tag on this book is more than it is worth. Too many people think that if Elvis' name is on something it will sell... and that is usually true. There are many quality Elvis books out there to choose from. Do yourself a favor and be discerning. Ed Bonja could really give the Elvis fans a great book if he wanted to. Perhaps next time he will! |
