4.0 out of 5 stars Elvis Sings for Kids, a great album for kids!!!!
This is really a great collection to get kids interested in the music of Elvis Presley. This is a reissue of the album Elvis Sings for Children and Grownups Too released in 1978. I was 5 years old at the time of the original release, and my dad bought the original vinyl album for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Particularly Entertaining for Children
Our family loves to listen to children's music and this one left us unimpressed--and we're not picky! I think if one is an Elvis lover and wants to introduce their children to his music, this is a good way to go. Otherwise, these just seemed like adult songs to me. My kids didn't like the CD at all. I cringed when I heard the Old MacDonald rendition because I wondered...

This is really a great collection to get kids interested in the music of Elvis Presley. This is a reissue of the album Elvis Sings for Children and Grownups Too released in 1978. I was 5 years old at the time of the original release, and my dad bought the original vinyl album for me.
The sound quality of the CD is excellent, especially for a budget release, and it's nice to be able to share this album with my children.
The track listing on the album shows only ten songs where the original album had 11 tracks. Well good news, all 11 tracks are on the CD, but for some reason "Big Boots" was omitted from the track listing on both the back cover and the booklet.

Here are the tracks in order:
(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear
Wooden Heart
Five Sleepyheads
Puppet On A String
Angel
Old MacDonald
How Would You Like To Be
Cotton Candy Lan
Old Shep
Big Boots (Not listed on cover)
Have A Happy

If you are an Elvis fan and have children this will really get them hooked and will provide many hours of family enjoyment.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Unknown side of Elvis, January 30, 2003

I really found this CD quite delightful, although I found Old MacDonald kind of odd for young chidrens ears. The song ANGEL is an absolute gem which really highlights THE Kings vocal talents. You should buy it just for this cut alone sit back and enjoy.

I cringed when I heard the Old MacDonald rendition because I wondered how many vegetarians would be very upset if they heard it. For non-vegetarians adults, it could be considered amusing though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old McDonald for Non-Vegetarians!, March 30, 2002
This review is from: Elvis Sings for Kids (Audio CD)
An absolutely delightful and obscure selection of Elvis songs "for early ears". When my old tape died, I despaired I'd ever find another version. The "Five Sleeply Heads" lullaby will completely delight ("Moonbeams played peek-a-boo, three awake became two ...") and alone is worth the price of the CD, though some of the songs on this tape warrant a listen before playing them for young children. Elvis' version of "Old McDonald" has some very fun, different lyrics and is perfect for sing-along BUT definitely for non-vegetarians, "Teddy Bear" is more than a bit sensual, and by my thinking Old Shep is way too maudlin for all children and a lot of adults. As the previous reviewer noted and very kindly listed, there are 10 songs listed on the cover, but the play list contains 11 (?). For those looking for upbeat, somewhat nostalgic lullabies, let me also recommend Linda Ronstadt's DEDICATED TO THE ONE I LOVE. I am simply thrilled that my dear friend Thelma was able to locate this CD for me, and would highly recommend it to Elvis fans.

3.0 out of 5 stars An ok collection, December 26, 2006
This review is from: Elvis Sings for Kids (Audio CD)
This is an ok collection. Since most of these songs were recorded for some of Elvis' movies and not really intended for a kids' album, it is kind of a mixed bag. My son enjoyed some of the songs on this CD when he was younger, other songs he never cared for. Once he got into 2nd grade he stopped listening to it all together. He said it was "boring". The only song he really liked was "Teddy Bear."

5.0 out of 5 stars Elvis Sings For Kids, November 12, 2008

I originally purchased this for my granddaughter. After receiving it I had to make sure it was okay. Well, it is so okay that I am keeping it for myself. My reasoning? She has no idea who Elvis was so she won't ever miss him. So, I will just play it for her when she comes over.

My children had this music when they were little, and I have purchased a cd of this for my grandson. He is only 15 months old, but he bops along to the music, especially Old Macdonald. The music brings back memories of my children's childhoods.
