5.0 out of 5 stars Em Habanim Semeha belongs in every Jewish home, February 22, 2001
By
This review is from: Em Habanim Semeha: Restoration of Zion As a Response During the Holocaust (Hardcover)
This is an incredable book,

This is for every person who loves Israel and believes in the jewish right to our homeland. - and those who deny it!

This book certainly belongs in every Jewish home.

I am not usually the type to be so fascinated by books written by Rabbis, This book (origanal hebrew edition) was written by Rabbi Teichtal while he was hiding out during the Holocoust. It is amazing how he knew so many quotes and sources (correctly) without references. (I have not seen the edition here, The edition I have is from Israel but I'm sure this is an equally good translation)

In brief this book remains the most comprehensive guide on the land of Israel, redemption and Jewish unity, the claim on my back cover that says "much of this remarkable work has been proven prophetic by the passage of time" is very true!

Rabbi Teichtal origanally shared the prevalant (in Europe) Orthodox view which discouraged the active return to the Land of Israel. The Holocoust changed his whole perspective as he was asked for explantions for the terrible holocoust, by his followers (as it was happening). He realizes that the Jewish peoples only answer is their return to Israel, which will not only save thembut speed the coming of the Moshiach (Messiah). Of course this is a long book so my answer is making it all short and sweet. In reality whathe writes is fascinating. There are parts which may be more of interest to Jewish Scholars, But I belive they can be understood by all. Even if not you will certainly find the majority of this book very interesting and worthwhile. Whether you are an observant Jew or not this is for you and your home. I suspect it will be of interest to many non jewish people also interested in this subject, including Christian supporters of Israel. Though it is mainly written as a guide to the Jewish Nation/People.

It is actually cheaper here at amazon than the price I paid in Israel, though that may be because it just came out then. In any case it's money well spent. Enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars A heroic work of Jewish thought, October 12, 2004
This review is from: Em Habanim Semeha: Restoration of Zion As a Response During the Holocaust (Hardcover)
This great work written by a holy Jew who came to understand during the sufferings of the Shoah, that Jewish redemption is necessarily connected with return to the land of Israel is ably translated here by Pesach Schindler. In making this translation he has done a service to the whole English speaking Torah world. For he enables us to see a remarkable mind and spirit at work.
This work is recommended for all those who love Israel, and care for Jewish thought deeply.

4.0 out of 5 stars A remarkable confession, October 29, 2006
By

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Em Habanim Semeha: Restoration of Zion As a Response During the Holocaust (Hardcover)
A remarkable confession from an ultra-Orthodox Rabbinic leader who admits to fatal errors in having been linked to a mistaken theology. Rabbi Teichthal, employing Biblical and Rabbinic sources, urges the wounded saving remnant to re-embrace Eretz Yisrael, the metaphoric mother of Israel, who awaits the return of her children from the costly exile. He was murdered towards the end of the Shoah and never lived to realize his prophetic vision.
