Review

"Western civilization faces threats from two directions -- radical secularism and radical Islam. These threats are intrinsically related, Darrow Miller argues. For it is precisely the loss of a biblical worldview that has weakened the West from within, rendering it vulnerable to destructive forces from without. In this insightful and inspiring book, Miller issues an urgent call to recover the life-giving liberty that has historically resulted from the application of biblical truth to all areas of life." --Nancy Pearcey, author of Total Truth and Saving Leonardo

"Darrow Miller first shows how the war is on for both the soul of Islam and the soul of America, and then connects those irrepressible conflicts to the Great Commission in both its theological and cultural aspects. His overview provides context for examining today's news and pushes us to prayer for tomorrow's discipling of all nations." --Marvin Olasky, Editor-in-Chief, World magazine

"Darrow Miller's book contains a perceptive analysis of troubling world trends that now threaten to take the history of nations in a harmful direction and also several practical steps, grounded in Scripture, that Christians can take as they seek to oppose these trends and positively transform their cultures for good. I am happy to recommend it!" --Wayne Grudem, PhD, Research Professor of Theology and Biblical Studies, Phoenix Seminary

"For activists like me who seek understanding, here comes a three-in-one treat. With refreshingly profound insights into the Great Commission, Darrow Miller equips the church to understand, love, and serve radical Muslims and secularists." --Vishal Mangalwadi, author of Truth and Transformation and The Book That Made Your World

In this book, Darrow Miller offers a thoughtful analysis of some of the greatest challenges facing those of us in the West who claim to be followers of Christ -- radical Islam (from outside) and, what he terms "fundamentalist" atheism (from within). This book isn't merely a well-written explanation of these very real threats -- although Miller does provide a clear, concise and accurate assessment of exactly what the Church is facing -- it is also a powerful call to all Christians to fully embrace the mission of the Church, that is, Christ's Great Commission. Pastors and other Christian leaders, as well as lay people, should read this book as Miller helps chart a course back to a Christ-centered culture, showing how we can effectively respond to the very real and present threats to our faith.

This is a really great book and I highly recommend it. Darrow gives a practical plan for dealing with the threats being posed by radical Islam and fundamentalist atheism. He clearly presents the need for a holistic worldview in the quest to fulfill the Great Commission. It is a great follow up to his previous book Discipling Nations. His book addresses a major need here in America with regard to answering why the churches here have become to impotent to impact American culture. This book is a compliment to Nancy Pearcey's Total Truth. Darrow concludes that a major problem with American Christianity revolves around the need to disciple our people in the understanding of the Great Commission and how a biblical worldview fits into fulfilling the Great Commission. This is a keeper and you will want to order copies for your church leaders, Sunday school classes and your friends. Thank you Darrow for writing this valuable book. The first time I came across anything from Darrow Miller was in 1998 in Thailand. When I listened to Darrow's lecture it was like a window was opened in my brain. Later I had the pleasure of having Darrow as teacher on UofN in New Zealand and later we met in other places. I love listing to him and reading his books is equally marvelous. This book is written by a man who knows the world as the palm of his hand and who has been exposed to all kinds of culture and religion. Darrow is a greater philosopher and theologian this is a great book, un alert for those that has ears to hear. Highly recommended!

Miller does a good job of examining two extremely significant influences in our world, and presents an outstanding challenge to followers of Jesus to step up.
