So far I've only loaded EPUB and PDF documents on this device, but it says it has the capability of handling several other ebook formats.
Terence Chandler
I tried the Ematic support on their website and there is no help whatsoever on it.

Bought this e-book reader over a 2 month ago. Had no problem with reading books in all formats, except of .doc. Perfect for reading e-books in foreign languages.
Only one concern so far: Battery life is short. Every 3-4 hours of reading this device needs to be re-charged. Had good experience in watching full length movie (2GB of data) loaded onto micro SD card. It took an approx. 3 min to load the movie, than movie plays flawlessly.

This is a great ereader. The battery life is a tad short (3-4 hours), but it improves a bit if you run it flat and fully charge it 3 or four times. It is very flexible with document types, although it won't handle MS Word (but you can switch those docs to RTF and it works fine). The ability to flip the screen to `read' long-ways really helps some docs.

It does video well, and it displays pictures flawlessly-it would make a great photo album.

Downloading and modifying files is tremendously easy-just connect it with any USB cable to your PC (which also charges the ereader) and treat it like a jump drive. One thing you may have to do is adjust document titles-in the selection area you can only see about 30 characters of a title, so you'll want to avoid listing author's name first.

The MP3 player is a real power hog, so only use it if the unit is plugged in. I haven't used the radio.

The manual is small, and not written in great detail, but it is sufficient. The controls for each feature are pretty much standard. In all, a great buy and a wonderful value for the money!

This product is a great value for the money. Built in mp3 player allows music to be enjoyed while reading. Holds multiple forms of books, and loading and moving books around couldn't be easier. Expansion card creates even more space. Easy to customize for use. Lighting is perfect for reading in dim spaces. Am enjoying this e-reader greatly.

This would be my third ebook reader. The previous one I had broke down. (My fault!) I invested a lot of time searching the best new reader for my needs. I know there are a great bunch of readers with lots of extras. It is amazing what the market offers you, from E-ink to Androided readers. I even tried one out from another brand of a colleague of mine, which requires you first to connect to a wi-fi network, accept their terms/conditions, and provide an Email address, or you will not be able to use it, otherwise. Oh, c'mon, people!

Oh, fine. This one does not have a touch screen, Internet access, or any other breath-taking feature. I just want a device in which I can read a book. Here is my bulleted list:

- This Ematic is a fine pieace of hardware. I have not had the need to use its reset button. (I usually use it in every other electronic device.)

- It feels great in my hands. Its buttons feel solid when clicking on it. Some devices offer cheap plastic, breakable buttons.

- As someone else mentioned, its case is an amazing extra. It should be wildly mention somewhere. It has its own magnets for closure. It protects its screen with a solid cover. Most of the times, you will need to purchase separately. (And overall offers a professional outlook that might even impress you geeky work colleagues... Well, OK, they were just being polite.)

- Its firmware is easy to use. It is a no brainer. Each device option has its own number. You may easily navigate through its memory.

- It has a 4 GB flash memory, and accepts extra micro SD! This is a lot of space to store ebooks. I purchased an extra memory card, and indeed, it accepts SDHC format cards.

- I chose an LCD screen for possible comic-reading.

First let me say, that I love this e-reader. The backlit screen is bright enough to read outdoors. You'll certainly have to turn it down indoors. The text is crisp, and the device is fairly easy to use. (The manual-- even the e-manual-- does leave a lot to be desired.) It keeps a "browser history" of what you've been reading, so you can easily go back to where you've left off. That's a handy feature for people who like to read three or four books concurrently.

When you are reading ePUB, txt, rtf (any maybe others) you can enlarge the font for comfortable reading without glasses. This feature works to some extent with pdf, but you have to pan over the page, which is a very awkward maneuver with this e-reader.

The case that comes with the e-Reader is very nice. It's strong and smooth to the touch. I haven't experienced the short battery life mentioned by other reviewers. I've been reading on the current charge for at least 8 hours and it's only down one bar on the battery meter.

I was a little disappointed that you can't listen to the FM radio while you are reading; although you can play MP3 music while you are reading. (Soft background music is *so* helpful when you're trying to read on public transit!) No big deal here, it just would have been a nice feature.

My biggest disappointment, however, is that it really trashes most of the PDFs that I've downloaded from books.google.com. French language, French literature, and mathematics are my main areas of interest, and they display with nonsense characters sprinkled all over the page, which is almost otherwise legible. The system has even crashed on me as I've tried to paginate through those documents.
