My new favorite bead book!,
By
This review is from: Embeadery (Paperback)
I received "Embeadery" a few days ago and am very impressed. The book is longer than I expected and it's packed with information from beginning to end. The writing style is conversational and the font is easy to read.
The book is very well-organized, making it easy to look for specific stitches or techniques. The diagrams are clear and easy to follow and there is a section of very good color photos showing each technique described. This book is easy enough to understand that I'd recommend it to a beginner, but it also has information that is useful to someone who has been working with beads for a while. "Embeadery" is now the first book I'd recommend to someone asking about learning to use beads as embellishment and I can't wait to see what else Ms. Ball comes up with in this series.

Excellent,

I have been beading for almost 40 years and own hundreds of bead/craft books. This is the most comprehensive, concise book I have ever owned. Worth well more than its price, I believe that this book will become the bible of bead embroidery. Packed with drawings and illustrations, color photos of each stitch in the back of the book, and instructions written so well that even a beginning beader/embroiderer will be able to master each technique, I know that I will refer back to this book many times. My congratulations to Ms. Ball for a job well done!

One of the best beading books I have seen yet,

This is a very informative book, full of great pictures, diagrams and helpful tips. The author has gone to a lot of trouble to make sure the reader understands the principals of basic beading and embroidery.. I highly recomend this book for both beginers and advanced beaders alike. You will not regret this purchase one bit.

A book of "Why didn't I think of that?",

I've been beading only a year, and have accumulated many books on beading. While many are very good, they seem to present the same ideas again and again. Embeadery shows you how to translate embroidery stitches into beadwork.
Having Margaret Ball's book at your side stirs imagination. It is like having a friend teach you new ways of looking at beading. The type is easy to read, the illustrations clear. The index works as it should, allowing you to find what you're looking for quickly. After having it in my hands only a few hours, I'm already visualizing new ways to use beads by embroidering them into my artwork.

Don't judge a book by its cover,

I'm disappointed in the quality of the publication. The cover is beautiful, and there are 7 glossy pages of color photos toward the back. The rest is printed on paper similar to the paper I use in my inkjet printer. Illustrations are black and white line drawings, which I find difficult to follow. The cover and the $30 price led me to expect a professionally published book.

What a wonderful resource and technique book!,

I bought this book for my Christmas present to myself this year. I have looked at and purchased several books on beading. This one is by far the most helpful! Not only is it easy to read, but so well illustrated that even a beginner can understand the techniques.
The ideas are inspiring and I have many projects that I want to use these techniques with. The pictures are wonderful and are not just 'eye candy' alone. This book is a helpful tool for all who want to embellish quilts, fiber arts, dolls and the like.

Wonderful book to get your creative juices flowing,

I love this book.
If you need patterns to copy this most likely is not the book for you. If you use books to give you ideas for a new project this book will be a gold mine. The use of beads in combination with embroidery stitches is clearly demonstrated in sketches. There are suggestions for variations. Hope she writes another book including more stitches and ideas.

This book is not lavishly illustrated -- not what you'd call a beautiful book, and I think it's overpriced -- but it was exactly what I needed as a newcomer to embellishing fabric with beads. Very clearly laid out. The author's writing style is light and fun to read. All in all, I'm very glad to add this book to my library.

I am very new to the art of embeadery. This is the first book I have purchased that has a big variety of stitches and how to do them. It is easy to follow and I refer to it constantly. This is a great reference book to have for this craft.

I'm very disappointed in this book. When the mail came, I was excited. That soon changed. I have a couple of other bead embroidery books and was told that this was a great book. The price is high, the cover is beautiful and there are 7 glossy pages of color photos toward the back. Other than that, the rest is cheaply made. Illustrations are black and white line drawings and the work is simply regular embroidery stitches with beads, nothing new. The cover and the price made me believe I would learn something or get ideas. Wrong.
