Editorial Reviews

Review

Here is a book to answer the question of how computers work for those without knowledge of digital or logic circuts, computer structure, or programming. An excellent text for undergraduates in electronic engineering or computer science, it will also be extremely useful to those who want to learn about computer architecture. - Optics and Photonics News, March 2004

From the Back Cover

*A core text for academic modules on microprocessors, embedded systems and computer architecture
*A practical design-orientated approach
*FREE CD-ROM features a unique microprocessor simulator, and accompanying website contains solutions, FAQs and updates to software

This book has been designed as an introduction to microprocessors and computer architecture for an electronics undergraduate or HND/C course. It differs from other books available in that it uses a design-orientated approach rather than a purely descriptive style dedicated to a particular commercial microprocessor.

The accompanying suite of programs includes interactive animations of digital circuits and an integrated development system, IDE. The IDE includes a graphical simulator of a microprocessor, down to the micro-operation level. The reader can observe and test their own system designs, with a variety of peripheral devices, on their own PC with the facilities normally found in a microprocessor systems laboratory.

The author has taught the design and use of microprocessor systems to undergraduate and technician level students for over 25 years.

1.0 out of 5 stars Book without CD, October 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Embedded Systems and Computer Architecture (Paperback)
I got this book for the reason that it has the software accompanying it that I can use to understand things better. But when the book arrived it came without the CD. Hence no use for me.
