4.0 out of 5 stars Excerpts from the Big Orange Book, March 5, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
OK, I'm a big fan of Emberly, as should be apparent to anyone who's read any of my other reviews, but the salient detail about this book was left out of the other reviews: It consists entirely and only of excerpts from the Big Orange books. You don't really need this if you have the Orange book.

Perhaps worse is that it's not even =all= the Halloween material from the Big Orange book, so even if you wanted to get it because your kids were fighting over who got to use the orange book, this may not help. It contains none of the monsters from the green or purple books, and despite the color of the cover, there are no red pictures. Just orange.

This might be a good book to introduce someone to Emberly's work, though around Halloween, being cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ed Emberley books are the best!, August 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Halloween (Ed Emberley Drawing Books) (Paperback)
I grew up using Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Animals. I somehow managed to keep it until my first child was born (it was my favorite childhood book), but without supervision, it was destroyed/lost/gone. When my second child turned 4, I started looking for a replacement and was thrilled to see all the different Ed Emberley books available now! These books take you shape by shape through the drawing. Each drawing is short and simple, keeping your child's attention and giving them a great result without discouraging extra detail. I recommend these books to anyone with pre-schoolers, they're awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars get your little artist started!, June 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Halloween (Ed Emberley Drawing Books) (Paperback)
Ed Emberley books are excellent for the little artist who wants perfection before picking up a crayon. i have three boys and each of them can create the finished image. sometimes, they are dead on and other times, they have gone there and altered that. in all cases, they are very proud to reproduce a printed image by a Real Artist and at the same time, they learn proportions and methods for attaining the final image. great book for any person. i use it for Halloween gift bags every year (as in i follow the directions and draw these guys on bags for our guests.) fun for all ages!

4.0 out of 5 stars Adorable...lots of fun, April 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Halloween (Ed Emberley Drawing Books) (Paperback)
This book is so cute....my two kids and I have a lot of fun with it. My only criticism is that many of the items are hard for my 6 year old to execute well, which is frustrating for him. My 9 year old loves it, and has made some fantastic art using this book as the model.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best drawing books ever, November 16, 2007

This review is from: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Halloween (Ed Emberley Drawing Books) (Paperback)
Ed Emberley's drawing books never disappoint! This book shows you with the simplets of instructions how to draw witches, skeletons and a haunted house, among other things. As with all Ed Emberley books, the instructions are exceptionally easy for even the most artistically challenged.
I brought this in and had my kids' Cub Scout Den create Halloween posters. The kids (and their parents) had a great time and were amazed at the simplicity.
My only complaint is that there are not enough monsters and you have to purchase other books -- I wish this were more of an anthology of Halloween drawings

My son is six and was not very confident in his drawing abilities. With this book he feels like he can really draw pictures which look good.

My kids love this book. It empowers them to be better at drawing than they thought they could be. With the simple instructions they can draw complicated looking haunted houses. So easy even my youngest (5years old) is cranking out the halloween pictures.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Drawing Book, March 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Ed Emberley's Drawing Book of Halloween (Ed Emberley Drawing Books) (Paperback)
My son and I have such a great time with this book.

He sat down and drew a spooky house with zombies, witches, bats and spiders. He drew the crooked door and the broken shutters. We were amazed at how much detail he put into it.

This book is inspirational to the budding artist.
