I have vacationed in Bar Harbor all of my life & have been looking for stories that take place on Mount Desert Island. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. The characters were intriguing. I was not able to put this down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just a great book!, March 31, 2011
This review is from: Embers (Kindle Edition)
This story hooked me on the first page and never stopped. The
characters were so sympathetic that I ended up rooting for all of them,
which made the tensions between some of them even more agonizing. The
murder mystery is set against the backdrop of a historic fire that
destroyed dozens of hotels and estates in the resort town of Bar Harbor
in 1947. Many decades later, Meg inherits a valuable dollhouse which is
a miniature of one of the burned-down estates; the dollhouse introduces
a chilling hint of the supernatural that adds to the suspense but never
overwhelms the story. Witty dialogue, passionate love scenes, spot-on
family dynamics, and at the end, I was in tears. A wonderful read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Romantic Mystery, July 22, 2011
This review is from: Embers (Kindle Edition)
This novel revolves around a haunted dollhouse. It has a good mystery that did catch me offguard . There is a murder in both the present and the past. The method of murder used in the present is one of the most unique I have ever read.

As for the romance it was well written. I will be checking out this authors other works.
