5.0 out of 5 stars Great office chair
Let's first admit that it's an expensive chair. Not ridiculously so, but still out of the range for most. I had an Aeron at my previous office, and was using a cheap Aeron knockoff for a couple of years after that. I liked the aeron when I got it, but have to say that this chair is much more comfortable. The aeron was more ascetic - correct for posture and all that, but...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware if you have a ''Flat'' back !
Let me begin by saying I really wanted to like this chair. I think it looks amazing!

But if you have a back that is 'Flat' this chair will give you an intolerable pain in the lower back. As an another reviewer said, it feels like an elbow is trying to dig a hole in your back. The problem is that the lumbar support is not adjustable, you can only adjust the...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great office chair, December 19, 2010

This review is from: Embody Chair by Herman Miller - Fully Adjustable Arms - White Frame and Titanium Base - Standard Carpet Casters - Mango Balance (Kitchen)
The aeron was more ascetic - correct for posture and all that, but still a bit lean. The Embody is...softer and firmer at the same time. It's not that there's more padding, but the suspension system they use sure makes it feel that way - it's firm and only yields where it should, and that is the essence of this chair. As someone noted, with the armrests it can be annoying that when you lean heavily to one side, and grab the other side's armrest it can pop out of position. Easy enough to move it back, but it does seem a bit sloppy. Otherwise, as you might expect, the chair is of solid (and weighty) design.

I've pretty much worked in one office or another for the past 30 years, and that means a lot of different chairs. This is the best office chair I've ever sat in. Not that I think I ever really complained about any of my previous chairs - it's more that I didnt care then, but am pleased now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best chair I've ever had, December 6, 2010
This review is from: Embody Chair by Herman Miller - Fully Adjustable Arms - White Frame and Titanium Base - Standard Carpet Casters - Mango Balance (Kitchen)
This is absolutely GREAT!! I owned an aeron chair, and tried on mirra several times, also compared it to other chairs like setu, leap etc. but this is the best one.

The adjustment is crucial, for the first month I own it, I didn't feel any extraordinary about this, and become frustrated because of the money I paid, then I have a friend coming from HM to help me adjust it right. O man, it jumped from "normal" into "wonderful". The whole back curve is adjustable, and it fit my back perfectly. After I sit on my old dinning chair for like a whole afternoon I returned to my embody, I can feel the sore and stressed muscle on my back being hugged by the chair and it just feels everything return right.

I used to be a terrible forward-leaning working person, that's why my lumbar got some issue even before I reached my 30. That's why I am quite picky about my working chair. Aeron did a good job, but Embody is better. Embody helped me to recline much much more than I used to, just because my back feel great leaning on it. I turned to recline caz I love the feeling of my back being fully touched and fully hugged. It's not too stiff but not too soft (somewhat I don't like Aeron is its back is harder than embody, I don't like the feeling of "pushing" when I sit), just right at that point.

I didn't have back pain after whole day working on Embody, which is the best thing about it.

Absolutely a full score. Once you adjust it right, it is the best ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced but mostly pleased., November 21, 2010
This review is from: Embody Chair by Herman Miller - Fully Adjustable Arms - White Frame and Titanium Base - Standard Carpet Casters - Mango Balance (Kitchen)
I've had this chair for about a year now and I use it at home in my home office. I think it looks great. If I'm paying this much for a chair, I want it to look different and evoke questions or comments, which is usually does. When you sit in it, it really does support your back. I can feel the support from the base of my spine all the way through my shoulders. So at the end of the day, my upper back isn't sore like when I go into the office.

Each and every piece is movable to fit your body. So it's really easy to adjust it just how you like it. I also liked that I could pick the fabric color and the color of the "spine". If this is in your budget, you won't be disappointed. Now I just want one for my office at work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware if you have a ''Flat'' back !, February 14, 2011
This review is from: Embody Chair by Herman Miller - Fully Adjustable Arms - White Frame and Titanium Base - Standard Carpet Casters - Mango Balance (Kitchen)
Let me begin by saying I really wanted to like this chair. I think it looks amazing!

But if you have a back that is 'Flat' this chair will give you an intolerable pain in the lower back. As an another reviewer said, it feels like an elbow is trying to dig a hole in your back. The problem is that the lumbar support is not adjustable, you can only adjust the degree of inclination of the whole back panel. And as it is, the lumbar support is way to firm for my back. If you have a flat back, a 'Posterior Pelvic Tilt', this chair will be hell. Fix your back curvature with exercises or seek another chair!

I have returned this chair and bought the Herman Miller Mirra Chair. Even though the Mirra's back also feels a bit to curvy, its still the best chair I've ever had. I can sit in it 6+ hours a day without much discomfort. And, meanwhile, im doing exercises to fix my back curvature...

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this chair, August 22, 2010
This review is from: Embody Chair by Herman Miller - Fully Adjustable Arms - White Frame and Titanium Base - Standard Carpet Casters - Mango Balance (Kitchen)
I recently bought Herman Miller Embody chair and all I can say is it's a HUGE disappointment. For a $1500 chair I definitely expected more, maybe my mistake. The chair is fully adjustable so that is as advertised. It is however unbelievably ugly (you can kind of see it in the picture) but it looks even worse in person. That be as it may. But the worst thing about it is the upholstery - it plain sucks. After paying extra $200 for the premium material, I am more than disappointed. The seat is not comfortable, it's too hard - any simple leather chair will be more comfortable. If you ever put bare skin against it - like wearing shorts for example - it is downright irritating. I cannot believe I spend that amount of money on a chair, and now I am shopping for a seat cover so I can make it usable. It just feels like a huge rip-off
