4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Debut, August 31, 1999
This review is from: Embrace the Eternal (Audio CD)
This is an excellent debut album full of energy and power. They keep you on your toes with constant tempo changes and the riffs are sometimes downright crazy. Their new song, "Halo of Winter", on the solid state sampler is excellent and shows the band has matured, which means the next album should be a killer.

in all my life i have never heard a cd as powerful as this one.the music has an insane melody to it.reason being is because of andrews guitar playing.it is extermly hard and yet retains a neat little rhythm.and the vocals are the best ive ever heard.kris(vocalist)has an interesting voice he can scream deep, high, medium and even whispers.but the reason the album is a winnerwith me is because of the lyrics the are filled with praise and worship to our saviour jesus christ they are deep and poetic.it ranges from praise, worship,to the struggle with sin in our lives.this album in my oppinion is for christians and non-christians.not because it sounds so cool and rocks insanely, but because it can help those who are non-christian come to know a personal relation ship with god AN ABSOLOUTE MUST BUY!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars metal dj reviews christian metal/hardcore, April 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Embrace the Eternal (Audio CD)
as a dj for the top metal/hardcore radio station in the state of illinois, i come across many diverse and interesting bands. sometimes it takes me a few listens to respect and/or like a band. embodyment blew me away the first time that i put it on. these guys know what they are doing. tight, tight rhythms, percussion and vocals power along with enough force to satisfy any metal head, while wonderful hardcore dance parts are thrown in, making the listener confused (in a very good way)whether to headbang or to hardcore slamdance. my only fault with these guys is the heavy carcass influence that they carry with them. the vocals, the guitars, and the artwork all seem like watered down carcass material. but dont' get me wrong...they aren't a rip off band by any means, but a new and diverse power in the heavy music scene. buy this album!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Metal-core to the bone, March 16, 2000
This review is from: Embrace the Eternal (Audio CD)
"Embrace the Eternal" excellent example of the musical combonation of metal and hard-core. The over-all recording is exquisite. In your face 7-strings and very clear and double bass kicks are all over the place. This album may not appeal 100% to the "old shcool" metal fans who are used to razor sharp guitar solos and death growl vocals. The lyrics have deep Christian over tones. Regardless of your religious affiliation, this album would fit nicley into any hard music listener's collection. I think you'll agree.

El Kabong gives it four head bangs.

From the time I bought this the first time; I was very impressed with the lyrical content! It's something you don't often find in this genre of music.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great stuff..., December 4, 2005

Zikony (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews

I'm glad I stumbled upon this little gem here, interesting mix of metal and hardcore with a strong positive Christian message. Their style of playing is pretty unique, never heard anything quite like it (except with Glass Casket doing a riff on their song "In Between The Sheets" that sounds like something straight out of this album). My only gripe is that the songs tend to sound the same and get kind a boring pretty fast. But whatever, its still a solid effort. Too bad they did a 180 after this and went emo/gay, who knows what they would've achieved if they stayed with their brutal style? Only God knows, I suppose.

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible hardcore album, November 13, 1999

Andrew Farrow (Shreveport, Louisiana) - See all my reviews

this is an incredible album that all hardcore/metal lovers must have. the band thrives off of its heavy and tight rythym section and the growls of the singer. take my word for it. it will blow you away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds Good, August 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Embrace the Eternal (Audio CD)
I haven't bought the CD yet, but i've heard many samples of Embodyment's previous work, and from the CD. It's great. They have the excellent vocals of Zao, and Living Sacrifice, with the speed and craziness of Training for Utopia, all of which add up to a great CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars heavy but unfocused, July 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Embrace the Eternal (Audio CD)
THese guys are all great musicians, but it seems like they are trying too hard to impress. SLayer and Carcass wrap these guys up in a nut shell. Their sophomore release should be interesting though, rumour has it that chris is going to try singing and that they are avid SPY GLASS BLUE fans! I wonder?...........
