“Liz Curtis Higgs is a gifted writer and poet who understands the human heart with all its complexity, beauty, and pain. She also understands the heart of God. Reading this book will make you want to let go of anything that keeps you from his loving embrace. I recommend it highly.”
–Rebecca Pippert, best-selling author of Out of the Saltshaker & Into the World
“For every woman who has ever felt as if she were standing on the outside looking in, welcome home! In Embrace Grace, Liz Curtis Higgs gently addresses the lies that keep us from everything our hearts so desperately need: love, forgiveness, and most of all, acceptance. Don’t stand out there shivering in the cold! Christ stands with open arms waiting to love you back to life.”
– Joanna Weaver, best-selling author of Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World
“Embrace Grace isn’t for perfect, churchy women who have never made a mistake. It’s for women who’ve blown it and are willing to investigate a better way to live. Liz Curtis Higgs is vulnerable, authentic, honest, and compassionate. Embrace Grace provides answers, truth, and a map that will take you from shame and guilt to a hope-filled future.”
–Carol Kent, author of When I Lay My Isaac Down
“Leave it to Liz Curtis Higgs–a master writer, storyteller and Bible teacher–to give us a book with a heavy hitting message wrapped in a cloak of warmth that melts even the coldest heart. Liz tells the story of grace, forgiveness, and restoration that every one of us–the wounded, the hurting, the seeking–needs to hear. This book must be read slowly and on bended knee, for each page is steeped with truth that will cause you to more passionately embrace the Father, embrace forgiveness, and Embrace Grace.”
– Priscilla Shirer, author of He Speaks to Me
“Like the fingers of an expert masseuse, Liz kneads away the knots of guilt, fear, and regret we all have. Embrace Grace speaks life-changing truth to our hurting, anxious souls in a uniquely winsome way.”
– Dee Brestin, best-selling author of The Friendships of Women
More About the Author
Her latest release, It's Good to Be Queen, encourages readers to become as bold, gracious, and wise as the queen of Sheba, who journeyed across the desert to test the mind and heart of King Solomon.
In her best-selling series of Bad Girls of the Bible books and videos, Liz breathes new life into ancient tales about the most infamous--and intriguing--women in scriptural history, from Jezebel to Mary Magdalene. Biblically sound and cutting-edge fresh, these popular titles have helped more than one million women around the world experience God's grace anew.
Liz also offers a twenty-first century take on the book of Ruth in The Girl's Still Got It, dishing out meat and milk, substance and style, in a highly readable, always entertaining, and deeply personal journey.
And you'll find a heartwarming Bible study wrapped inside a beautiful gift book with The Women of Christmas. Verse by verse, Liz unwraps the biblical stories of Elizabeth, Mary, and Anna, who each welcome the Christ child into the world in a marvelous and miraculous way.
Liz's award-winning historical novels, which transport the stories of Rebekah, Leah, Rachel, Dinah, Ruth, and Naomi to eighteenth-century Scotland, also invite readers to view these familiar biblical characters in a new light.
According to Publishers Weekly, "Higgs is a stickler for period authenticity." To that end, Liz has traveled sixteen times to Scotland, the setting for her novels, and has filled her shelves with nearly one thousand resource books about Scottish history and culture.
Also a gifted professional speaker, Liz has presented more than 1,700 inspirational programs for audiences in all fifty United States and fourteen foreign countries. When the National Speakers Association honored her with the Council of Peers Award for Excellence, Liz became one of only 35 women in the world named to their CPAE-Speaker Hall of Fame.
On the personal side, Liz is married to Bill Higgs, Ph.D., who serves as Director of Operations for her speaking and writing office. Liz and Bill enjoy their old Kentucky home, a nineteenth-century farmhouse in Louisville, and are the proud (and relieved) parents of two college grads.
"I have three abiding passions: encouraging my sisters in Christ, exploring the stories of women in the Bible, and writing novels set in Scotland of old. When I'm not traveling, speaking, or spinning a story, I connect with readers online, take copious photos, read historical novels, watch period films, and immerse myself in research--the more books, the merrier. I'm a lame housekeeper, a marginal cook, and a mediocre gardener, but home is still my favorite place to land."

I applaud Ms. Higgs gentle but direct manner. When one is struggling to accept forgiveness, being too "easy" doesn't help. But in her firm and honest approach she submits case after case as to why you are not alone in this, why forgiveness has been created for us all since before the beginning of time, and that it is "OK" to accept it...not just OK, but your job, and it is God's good wish for you to accept it.
Some things that I learned but didn't expect to learn...grace is all-encompassing. It means to not only accept forgiveness, but to repent, to move forward, to allow yourself to feel "new" again. WHO IN THIS WORLD DOESN'T NEED THIS??? Yeah, thought so.
I was also intrigued by her comment that "self forgiveness" isn't mentioned anywhere in the Bible. WOW. How true. God's grace has you covered.
I have read a lot of self-help, spiritual, and religious books, and I cannot recommend this one more. NO ONE can open this book and not relate in some way (again, the Catholic POV may be a problem for some, though it was a huge help to me). I really think it is one of the most powerful books I have read.Read more ›

Our church circle is using that for this year's lessons. Liz speaks to the soul in such a "relatable" way. I'm a fan. Each lesson is short and drives its message home.Published 14 months ago by Mary Ann Hardee
