Book Description

Entrusted with a bronze shard of Solomon’s Temple, Boaz’s family has lived in constant danger. Moving from place to place, they have protected the relic from people who wanted to use its magick to procure wisdom and power over demons. It’s a demanding and dangerous responsibility; one that has taken a toll on each member of this proud and pious Jewish family.

Now Uncle Jack is dead, his throat opened up in a grisly red smile, his murderer still at large.

They’ve been discovered.

As Boaz sits with the body of his beloved relative, he realizes that everything is about to change. The one man who knew about and understood his taboo sexuality, and appreciated his fears and insecurities, is dead, leaving him alone to face the darkness that crouches at the doorstep ready to destroy them all. To survive, the boy must confront his internal demons and questions and steel himself to make his stand against the coming chaos.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

"Thompson's voice is his own -- strong, hypnotic, and unsettling. Nursery Rhymes 4 Dead Children is a bleak fucking book, and therein lies its danger. So beautifully-constructed is Thompson's prose, that the reader is often caught off-guard, mesmerized by a turn of phrase or a descriptive passage, until the book grabs you by the balls and rips them right off, breaking your heart and your psyche in the process." -- Brian Keene, author of Dark Hollow and The Rising

I've said it many times and believe it more everyday, Lee Thompson is not only the next big name at Delirium Books but in the genre- Shane Ryan Staley at Darkfuse Publications

Lee Thompson's prose is electric! -- Bob Freeman, author of Descendant

5.0 out of 5 stars Blew Me Away October 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Boaz's family has a legacy to uphold. They are the latest in a long line of those entrusted to protect a sacred relic: a bronze shard from the fabled Temple of Solomon. Constantly moving around, they never settle in one place for long and are always in danger from those who want to get their hands on the powerful relic. One day Boaz's uncle, Jack, is found dead with his throat sliced open. Not only have they been discovered, but the one person who understands and accepts Boaz is dead. Now Boaz must face not only his inner turmoil alone, but he also must make a stand against the dark forces seeking the shard.

I was amazed to find that I could be so affected by such a small work of fiction. Thompson's writing can only be described as beautiful, passionate, and emotional. Though he just recently began selling his work, his writing displays a maturity of a much more seasoned author. He crafted a truly engaging story that left this reader wanting more. Keep an eye on Lee Thompson; he has a bright future and will be an author to be reckoned with.

Reminiscent of Tom Piccirilli's style, if you enjoy a raw, put-it-all-out-there type of storytelling, As I Embrace My Jagged Edges is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars I want to read more! May 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Lee Thompson is creating a very interesting landscape with these division stories. Not only are these books interesting stories plot-wise, they also are unflinching in the exploration of the deep levels of suffering of the characters. These characters bleed out on the pages. Thompson must really have a strong emotional attachment to his creations because he portrays them with such sympathy and power. Very few writers breathe such life into their characters. Very few. Lee is a very courageous writer.

I am very interested to follow the further journeys of Boaz as he continues to fight against forces of darkness as well as come to grips with his own insecurities and meets characters from the other stories. This is the fourth division novel that I have read and I am struck not only by how good they all are, but how DIFFERENT they all are from each other. I can't even imagine how these wonderful characters are all going to come together but I am sure looking forward to finding out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, Modern Golem Tale April 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Thompson's brief tale gives a modern spin on the Golem story, and ads an interesting Jewish family-battling-ancient-evil spin on things. With a twist ending and some truly disturbing ideas, this is a fine introduction to an author I'll definitely be reading more from.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent but short October 4, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Boaz is a gay teen whose family has a deep secret--they're the protectors of a shard of the temple of King Solomon. Now that his uncle is dead, his family is falling apart and Boaz must learn to step up and save them all.

As I Embrace My Jagged Edges is a vivid, beautiful tale that's just too short. Thompson jerks readers around on silken strings in a rare piece of fiction that explores both the Hebrew and gay identities. Furthermore its a powerful horror tale, a unique trifecta for sure. While its length and ebook only (at the moment) format limit its value to public collections which might not be making the ebook transition, I definitely recommend this tale to horror readers, especially those hungering for minority points of view.

More About the Author

"Lee Thompson knows his horror-noir. He fuses both genres together in the turmoil of terror, tragedy, blood, guilt, and lost chances at redemption."-Tom Piccirilli, author of THE LAST KIND WORDS

Lee Thompson writes Dark Fantasy under his own name, Coming-of-Age Suspense as Thomas Morgan, Supernatural Thrillers as Julian Vaughn, and Noir as James Logan. The dominating threads weaved throughout his work are love, loss, and learning how to live again. A firm believer in the enduring power of the human spirit, Lee believes that stories, no matter their format, set us on the path of transformation. Lee Thompson started selling fiction in early 2010. His novels include NURSERY RHYMES 4 DEAD CHILDREN (Delirium Books, 2011) and THE DAMPNESS OF MOURNING (Darkfuse Publications, 2012). He also has novellas available and forthcoming from Delirium Books, Thunderstorm Books, and Sideshow Press. He's not a productive writer of short fiction, but has sold to magazines he loves, like Shock Totem, Dark Discoveries and Literary Mayhem.

Feel free to ask any questions on any of his book's discussion pages and he'll gladly answer them.

P.s.-- I heard from a reliable source that his readers rock.
