Book Description

The rotting dead slowly clawed their way through the hard packed grave soil. The risen corpse only had one purpose, to feed on the living.

Somewhere on the welsh border; the insular village of Seeton continues its usual business unaware that the world around them is falling prey to the reanimated dead. Their routine lives are abruptly turned on their heads when a lone scientist arrives in their village with the virus close behind.

Dean Kasnovski had arrived home, his mind laden with the guilt of leaving his fellow researchers to perish in the secret laboratory hidden deep under the streets of London.

Dean is positive that a cure can be found but he’s quickly running out of time. As the villagers, departed loved ones return to feast on their warm bodies, Seeton’s surviving population direct their hate at the strangers in the village.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic December 21, 2011
By Cheryl
Format:Kindle Edition
I really enjoyed this book, having never read a zombie book before it was a great read to start with. The characters were believable, some you rooted for others you hoped the zombies would get. Great storyline, and I have to say I love the way it ended. I am hooked now and will definitely read more of Mr. Woodhead's work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zombie Dead-Not for the Faint of Heart!! December 21, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
WOW!!! Loved this book!! For those of us residing in the good ole U.S. of A, Ian stays true to his heritage, (there's a differnece between English English & American English). Comprised of several different characters, who are all basically experiencing the same phenomenon, you find that they all have a commonality you didn't expect. He also stays true to the genre, let's face it, flesh eating zombies are flesh eating zombies. You just can't pretty that up!! And who would want to? The end is quite surprising, a little nugget you forget about whilst engrossing yourself in the little village of Seeton....I highly recommend this book....Welcome to Seeton, take a seat & enjoy the ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the Ride December 21, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Great story that is more than just zombie meets world. Ian Woodhead has created a cast of characters that are flawed and likeable and human and has put them in a crazy situation to see what will happen next. What I really enjoyed was the characters were not predictable. And that was a real treat.

This one will keep you reading into the night. Great work Ian.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not What I Was Hoping For... December 31, 2012
By Krimini
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I am most likely to choose a novel that challenges individuals who find themselves in situations where fighting for their survival when I am looking for something to read for my leisure reading, so post-apocolyptic or dystopian novels are regular choices for me. The larger the challenges and the stronger the primary characters the more I enjoy the stories. This book was not really what I was expecting in that it felt more like I was reading a whole bunch of short stories that just all happened to take place in the same region, with a couple or recurring characters. I found it extremely difficult to get any real sense of depth from the story or the main characters as there were so many chapters where a single individual would be introduced, slightly delved into, only to be taken out of the story as they became victims of the fast growing number of zombies mere pages later... As for the main characters in the book, even they seemed to be barely given much depth. There was just enough info to get a basic premise of the individuals, but not much past that... not even a real description of the physical characteristics, leaving in my opinion, too much to the imagination. The overall concept of the story was a decent premise. I think if there had been more consistency surrounding the character development, the unfolding of the events. fewer unnecessary side characters, and a little more clarity around how the plague got out and spread, then I could see it moving from a 3 star level to a 4, or even potentially a 5 as I really did enjoy the basic story line.... 5.0 out of 5 stars Nifty take on zombies April 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Book Info: Genre: Horror/ZombiesReading Level: Adult

Disclosure: I picked up a free copy for my Kindle from Amazon.com; since it is Ian Woodhead's birthday 4/19/12, I decided to have a little Ian Woodhead marathon this week in celebration. Happy Birthday, Ian!

Synopsis: The rotting dead slowly clawed their way through the hard packed grave soil. The risen corpse only had one purpose, to feed on the living.

Somewhere on the Welsh border, the insular village of Seeton continues its usual business unaware that the world around them is falling prey to the reanimated dead. Their routine lives are abruptly turned on their heads when a lone scientist arrives in their village with the virus close behind.

Dean Kasnovski had arrived home, his mind laden with the guilt of leaving his fellow researchers to perish in the secret laboratory hidden deep under the streets of London. Dean is positive that a cure can be found but he's quickly running out of time. As the villagers' departed loved ones return to feast on their warm bodies, Seeton's surviving population direct their hate at the strangers in the village.

My Thoughts: Well, the editing was a problem. Lots of typos and grammatical errors, plus one guy named Richard became Christian just after being zombified. But that is pretty common in this books, honestly (sorry Ian) and I put that aside for all the fun action. I really wasn't a fan of zombie horror, but Ian Woodhead has changed my mind. He knows how to put the zip in zombie.

This was an interesting one - a little different take on zombies, using a virus-like mechanism. There was a bit more character development than in his first two Zombie Armageddon books, as well as more information about the various characters' interaction.

3.0 out of 5 stars Zombiedead by Ian Woodhead December 30, 2011

Zombiedead by Ian Woodhead
Kindle edition
2011

This is the story of Dean, a scientist working in a secret underground lab trying to find a way to extend life. Believing they had found the answer and getting ready to celebrate one of the test mice goes nuts. The head scientist gets bitten and he go nuts a few minutes later. Lock-down is initiated and Dean escapes seconds before the doors lock.

Somehow the virus escapes and rips into London. Dean believes he has the answer and just needs time to work on the formula to prefect it. London is not the right place for that, so he returns home to Seeton.

There are a host of interesting characters in this book. There is Alison, who wants a new life and returns to Seeton, where she was raped by a high school teacher. Why has she gone back there? Revenge of course. There is a pimp and his two minders after Alison and they track her to Seeton. A father who wants to love his son but he is weak willed and folds to the thoughts of others around him. And a frisky senior citizen.

Oh, and the walking dead.

The story overall is quite good. It's gory when it needs to be not when it doesn't. There are several confusing spots where a flashback occurs out of the blue with no indication it's a flashback. There are people in a couple of scenes not mentioned earlier in the scene, they just start getting shot.

This book needs another edit.

But despite these issues, the story is engrossing. It's a plot driven tale and moves fast. For a quick and entertaining read, this is a zombie book to get. It ticks all the boxes.
