4.0 out of 5 stars A great resource for our increasingly diverse churches
We hear so much talk today about the growing diversity in our churches and the need to implement methods and strategies of not just simply "accepting" this diversity but of truly embracing it and welcoming the gifts and talents brought by all the members of the Body of Christ.

Foster's book goes beyond the rhetoric to offer a number of simple but effective...

I began reading with great expectations. Rather than providing detail about how churches manage and thrive in the multiethnic mix, the author drifted into frequent sermonizing. In this case, he is preaching to the choir, and I was hoping for info rather than more (and more, and more) exhortation. Too many of these books sound distractingly angry. Instead, I suggest three...

Instead, I suggest three better ones:
Building a Healthy Multi-ethnic Church: Mandate, Commitments and Practices of a Diverse Congregation (J-B Leadership Network Series),
Multicultural Ministry: Finding Your Church's Unique Rhythm, and
One New People: Models for Developing a Multiethnic Church.
For race relations, check out Reconciliation Blues: A Black Evangelical's Inside View of White Christianity.

Foster's book goes beyond the rhetoric to offer a number of simple but effective strategies for doing just this, strategies that will no doubt be of value and benefit to many involved in church leadership today.
