I liked this book a lot, but I'm a beginner embroiderer and this was my first book. I found it at the discount store, meaning to buy Doodle Stitching at another store later, but never got around to it because this tells me most of what I need to know.

It is a beginner's book, but can be use further based on the different stitches explained in the book...

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay, but not great
There are 30 designs. There were a few that were fun, but most were uninteresting, unoriginal, and uninspired--Teacup on a saucer, a snake (that any kindergartner could draw for you), a treble clef, crown, balloon, sun, martini glass, etc. The better patterns (i.e. not as common) were a chinese "Love" symbol, big kahuna Hawaiian design, and cute "embellished" frames for...

This review is from: Embroidery to Embellish Everything: 30 New Hand-Stitched Designs (Paperback)
I liked this book a lot, but I'm a beginner embroiderer and this was my first book. I found it at the discount store, meaning to buy Doodle Stitching at another store later, but never got around to it because this tells me most of what I need to know.

It is a beginner's book, but can be use further based on the different stitches explained in the book.

It tells you how to use different media in your embroidery, apart from just embroidery. There's how to use paint, applique, fusible web, beads, etc., then make it even better with embroidery.

The designs are not stuffy or old-fashioned. There's a tiki motif, a cool-looking sun, some Chinese character.

So, I have to give this 5 stars for content and ease understanding the instructions. It's great for a beginner like me, even if it doesn't have the highest number of projects.
