Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Ever wonder what sparks an artist's imagination? For one multimedia artist, the answer's clear: Langford finds creativity through natural phenomenon, such as gardens and boat harbors, and through human-made wonders, such as piers and acting performances. What is unusual here is the depth to which the author plumbs the sources of her inspiration. A panoply of approximately 50 works, in color and with a bit of explanation (somewhat hard to read since it's printed in gold script on a black background), is augmented by description of techniques used in each artwork, accompanied by a black-and-white outline of the piece's pattern. I'm not sure what the purpose of this book is. I got it to learn how to take drawings and adapt them to embroidery. It doesn't do that. It's very hard to read since almost all of the text is in shiny gold script. There are some printed pages in the back that give a little bit of description, but not very useful to someone looking for a practical guide.
It may be a good book if you are a fan of the author's work and want a little background on the individual pieces.
