Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Not everything crosses the Atlantic as quickly as the latest Harry Potter novel. Witness Norden's fourth book, an elegantly designed guide, which took two years to be published in the U.S., to embroidering with wool. It is definitely worth the wait, though. Through 40 patterns, adorning everything from blankets and curtains to lampshades and pillows, the author showcases her talent. All patterns are categorized as either repeating curls (using paisley motifs as one creative prompt); petals and tendrils, with flowers as a natural inspiration; graphic lines, harnessing symbols and abstracts; and childhood memories, embracing familiar objects like hats, gloves, and pajamas. Color photographs are spectacular (hats off to photographer Sandra Lane), and instructions leave no room for doubt. Conversion chart and distributors appended. Barbara Jacobs

If you like any kinds of stitchery, this book is for you. There are many different kinds of models in this book. Every one of them has a simple, unique, versatile and modern design. In particular the colors are remarkable. There is a huge selection of different patterns. If you like classical flower designs, they are in this book, as well as the graphical designs and frippery. This book is so inspirational, that you may desire to create your own design. Even if you don't like stitchery or embroidery, this book might be a very good coffee table book. Because of its contemprory designs and different colors, it completely satisfies, anyone who likes variety in embroidery.
