4.0 out of 5 stars For Loreena Mckennit & Enya Lovers!, February 18, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Emer Kenny (Audio CD)
Wow... I can't belive no one has reviewed this cd yet! So anyone curious as to what this album sounds like here you go:

Imagine Enya's angelic voice, combined with Loreena Mckennit's faery celtic sound, over soft ambient pop rhythms featuring the harp as opposed to the piano. With this you have the best sensual celtic music I've ever heard! Even if you're not able to hear samples of this cd buy it if you like Enya or Loreena Mckennit - you won't be dissapointed in that respect. Great for massage and relaxation by candlelight.

I happen to prefer Emer Kenny over Loreena and Enya, but I'll attribute that to the fact that I normally am not a fan of much etherial celtic music and this one just so happens to have struck a chord with me for some reason. Definately worth buying!

4.0 out of 5 stars Different kind of Celtic sound..., January 22, 2001
This review is from: Emer Kenny (Audio CD)
If you are expecting an artist in the style of Enya, you may be
somewhat disappointed with this disc. The music is far closer to
Loreena McKennitt's sound then Enya.

Still, from the first track,
you'll be hooked. The sound is somewhat more pop-ish than either Enya
of Loreena's work, which makes the music an interesting hybrid. Celtic
harp and Irish vocals are freely laced with modern percussion,
resulting in a pleasant and unusual soundscape.

I'm looking forward
to the pending release of her new album.

I have had this CD for about 2 weeks and play it in my shop continously and have had dozens of my customers fall in love with it. The music is captivating and the voice is mesmerizing. It is wonderful and highly recomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh breeze from Ireland, June 12, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Emer Kenny (Audio CD)
This album is pure, beautiful, imaginative, music. There is an unearthly, mystical quality about it. Emer Kenny shifts between English and Irish vocals, yet they are all linked by her stunning, ghostly voice and her energetic harp playing. Emer Kenny and her producer/musician husband John Murphy are educated musicians. Its about time! For far too long the music industry has been plauged by amatuer "garage bands" that arrogantly proclaim their music as good. And then they disappear with the fickle whims of the public. Not here. If this first album is any indication, Emer Kenny is going to be around for a long time and will easily exceed this first effort with time and experience. With this album she already seems to have carved out a unique niche somewhere between Loreena McKennett and Enya. My only complaint is the album appears on the pop music racks and not in Contemporary Irish or New Age music where thinking music lovers would expect to find it.

4.0 out of 5 stars EMER Kenny Strikes gold with her Alt Harp music., February 20, 2006
This review is from: Emer Kenny (Audio CD)
Here is the heart of modern Celtic: with the folk swayings of the homeland, the techno soft popping beat of instruments blending in with harp, and the fusion of old and new style Celtic. If you are thinking: 'putting me to sleep' harp,' then you will be vastly disappointed: while ethereal and dreamily asethic, Emer has the ability to fuse softly flowing jazz rhythms with classical guitar, backed by multi-tracked angelic sounding vocals.

Emer Kenny's self titled CD combines haunting melodies with inspired lyrics. A must have for late night listening with the lights turned down low.

5.0 out of 5 stars beautiful and captivating, January 31, 2007
This review is from: Emer Kenny (Audio CD)
There is just something a tad magical about the Irish language that when put to music with a voice like Emer Kenny's makes it all the more enjoyable. I liked Siobhan a lot, and the others are close behind. Kenny's voice is sweet and pure, though not as angelic as westenra or brightman - still worth listening to.
