SOOO Irish - just what I was looking for. The perfect gift for an Ireland-loving family member wanting to relive the experience of his visits to this most amazing country and people.

This is an absolutely wonderful CD of traditional - and inspired - Irish and Scottish music. I especially appreciate the variety of styles and instrumentation. Besides the typical instrumentation of uillean pipes, tin whistle and Bodran, it also features the guitar (played by David Russell on "Cherish the Ladies," "Spatter the Dew" and "The Bucks of Oranmore"), violin (Timothy Lees - “The Last Rose of Summer”), cello (Jared Shapiro on “The Seagull Jig”), tenor (“Danny Boy”) and even the piano (Poco Adagio from John Field’s Piano Concert No. 2). The music ranges from traditional (“Danny Boy”) to sacred (“Take Time to be Holy” - sung by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir) to a setting from a film score (Irish Party in 3rd Class - from “The Titanic”), to classical (the aforementioned piano concerto) to - heck - even for fun! (“Whiskey, You’re the Devil”). And what’s an Irish recording without a little James Galway? (“Simple Gifts”) The CD closes with a gorgeous rendition of “O Danny Boy” by the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.

Highly recommended for your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations!
