A must Reader for 20 something leaders,
This review is from: Emerge: Equipping College Leaders to Continue a Life of Vision and Purpose (Paperback)
Ken Jibben's book emerge is not a book to only learn about, but to experience. Ken takes Biblical principles on leadership development, transition, and emotional wellness and gives "feet" to the principles for our daily lives. I am a 20-something pastor serving in the local church because Ken taught me how. If you are a 20-something leader or a church leader - this is a must read!

A great book for college-leaders, campus ministries and the local church!,

"Emerge" does an incredible job of laying out practical ways that a local church can be a blessing to leaders in campus ministries, and in turn, the greater population of college students and future 20-somethings/young adults in the Kingdom. I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of LEAD team in 2008-2009, under the leadership of Ken, his wife Kristi and a few other solid ministry leaders. As I've had first-hand experience learning from Ken and Kristi, and been a leader of a campus ministry myself, its been so refreshing to read this book! I can only imagine how beneficial this material could be to any and every church who might trust God to begin a LEAD team within their own congregation... to be the missing link between campus ministries and the local church; and to in turn, bless these campus ministries by equipping their leaders even further in leadership development, emotional wellness and transition. "Emerge" offers essential tools which would benefit and encourage just about anyone: Whether you're a college student and emerging Christian leader, seeking to grow God's kingdom on your campus; a staff-member of a campus ministry who is looking to provide a link for your leaders to continue to serve as a lifetime laborer for Christ within their church; or someone at a church looking for ways to pour into the college population... this book will set you in motion if you let it! I strongly encourage you to give it a read!

As promised, Emerge is a great resource for church/campus staff and emerging college leaders. Ken addresses significant issues facing 20 somethings. Often the transition from schooling into the career world is confusing and filled with uncertainty. Ken provides foundational leadership development tools. Some described in the book are avoiding pitfalls during transition, pursuing vision, strategy and action, and resolving conflicts. A core issue for leaders is evaluating and living emotionally healthy. Ken provides simple, yet powerful tools for leaders in this area. I've personally been impacted by this book. As I read this book, I feel like I've benefited from Ken's experience, thoughts and wisdom as he has ministered to the emerging leader.

Emerge is one of the best tools for leadership development of college seniors. This book is valuable to a student who is an emerging leader or a leader in the church who is looking to develop the emerging leader. As someone who has been on the LEAD TEAM that is talked about in Ken's book for two years, I can say first hand that Ken's teachings are life changing. The perspective and wisdom that he shares in emerge are things that my husband and I have used on numerous occasions. If you are looking for one of the top leadership development books on living a life of vision and purpose, this is the book!

"Emerge" is exquisite! The pages are a brilliant blend of practical, step-by-step footprints to follow sprinkled with life stories to help illustrate invaluable teaching points and key truths. It is strategically laid out for any type of learner. I venture to say, this will be the "go to" resource that will inspire and rekindle the vision and purpose of countless seasoned ministry leaders, as well as the next generation of emerging college leaders!
I hope this is but the first in a long line of God-inspired, leadership-focused books from Ken. Well done!!! Toni Mattson;Chaplin Co-Founder of Trinity Equestrian Center

Having worked in a parachurch ministry for over twenty years , I have often found myself dealing with the fallout of poorly equipped church leadership on a number of occasions . The burnout and the disillusionment is often quite profound . These individuals often began their christian service and leadership while attending college . There they often burned with passion to serve Christ's church . However, as they transitioned into more full time christian service , they often found they were ill prepared to deal with the needs of the church at large. In turn came the burnout and disillusionment previously mentioned .
In this book, Mr. Jibben has given a detailed yet concise " map " for the leaders in college, to transition from college ministry to church ministry in a spiritually and emotionally healthy manner. I would strongly suggest the professional leadership of campus ministries, utilize this book with those in their chapters who are thinking of full time christian service beyond campus . If practiced , the material in this book will help to ensure the passion for Christ, burns with quality and vision long after graduation .

Thank you Ken! Emerge is the missing link to young adults maintaining vital lives of influence as they transition through their 20's. This book is full of great wisdom (as well as practical next steps) after years of experience, training, and teaching. As a young emerging leader myself, some of the greatest wisdom I have received has come from Ken's teachings. Ken is so passionate about our generation and its potential. He does a great job in laying out the teachings he has done for years, in addition to offering an open model that has worked well for him at their church. If you are a young adult or serving alongside us, there is much to gain from reading this book. I strongly recommend it!

Igniting a Passion for Developing Student Leaders,

This review is from: Emerge: Equipping College Leaders to Continue a Life of Vision and Purpose (Paperback)
From beginning to end, "Emerge" captures the passion Ken Jibben has for building the body of Christ,in particular developing college students into Christian leaders who have an impact far beyond their years on campus. A must-read for anyone working with college-age students in university settings or in churches that serve them. Jibben, in-step with today's culture, includes frank chapters on obstacles today's college students face. He provides great information both from scripture and sound general wellness principles to help mentors guide and equip future student leaders. Churches seeking to retain the "twenty somethings" will find practical step-by-step ideas and a wealth of seasoned wisdom for developing a LEAD Team Model, that he and his wife have perfected. Jibben's passion is contagious; by the end of the book I realized that the church needs to wake up to the tremendous potential of college youth in effecting world evangelism. May "Emerge' ignite the fire!
