If you love new music, or have a sense of adventure and crave new and creative works of art, this CD should be in your collection. I find this music far more engaging than most contemporary music releases. It was primarily written, performed and recorded outside both mainstream venues and academic settings, and to me this has given me the impression of a composer who has found and developed his own voice, his own style, and mounted this generous deluxe 2-CD endeavor entirely on his own terms, his personal sacrifice, and his vision. The integrity of his music is helped by surprisingly consistent impressive performances; I say surprisingly, because all too often new works are not given the preparation and passion they deserve, especially from an otherwise unknown composer. And although I occasionally sense shades and influences of other composers, it is undeniably Keith Kramer. This CD sits proudly alongside the works of the 20th Century's giants (and lesser-known geniuses and personal favorites of mine) and is a gem to own, not to be missed. You won't be disappointed.
(I was planning on doing a track by track but at this rate might turn into a very long review, so I might update/edit this later, folks.)
