Sych to the crescendo of the times,

Amidst all the fear and hype around 2012, this music surfaces, a perfect background to the escalating vibes of the universe. Use it for a yoga soundtrack, a "dance your prayers" session, or to attune your being to the cosmic rhythms pulling us into the unknown future.

"Emergence 2012" is one of the best, underrated albums of 2009. Alex Theory, unlike megastars such as Yanni and Enya, isn't a big name in the New Age music movement. He's associated with Sound Healing. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, he believes music can be a pathway to mental wellness. In "Emergence 2012",he collaborates with futurist/New Ager/psychedelic champion Daniel Pinchbeck. Pinchbeck is the author of "2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl" and believes Obama is insufficiently progressive.
"Emergence 2012" is incredibly hypnotic. It is based on the Mayan baktuns (which encompass 144000 days) The Mayan Long Count calendar abruptly ends on December 21, 2012,so Theory bases his music off this. He follows the sacred math of the Mayans for his music. Structurally,it's very simple with drumming, flutes, and chants mixed in with jungle sounds. It gradually builds. After all,Theory has written albums based on water molecules and the color spectrum. He blends music with science. "Emergence 2012" is incredibly meditative. It is,as the cover says,"soundtrack for global evolution."

I am and artist and a writer. I have a hard time finding music that will take me to my "creative space" and not distract me once I get there. I finally found it. I am convinced that the sounds on this CD have helped me create some of my best work. It helps me focus, and does not have any of the irritating high pitched frequencies that dominate most of the New Age music that is easily available in today's marketplace.

Emergence 2012 is an interesting experiment in sound, but nowhere near as hypnotic and magical as EARTH by Alex Theory. If you enjoy trance music and using music to experience an alternate reality, forget Emergence 2012 and buy EARTH.
