THANKS to author Doug King for the excellent info. on preparedness! It's refreshing to find a factual guideline of information among all the printed "mystical- survival skill stuff" in todays market. For the price this book should be in everyones library.I highy recommend Mr Kings book for anyone interested in preparing for possible disasters. Doug is very thorough in his effort to educate from basic to advanced emergency preparedness for all the main disasters. This book covers information from what to put in a 72-hour kit to how to live off the land.

The Emergency Disaster Survival Guidebook is easy to read and understand. There are lots of good illustrations on making shelters, fires, gathering food, shutting off utilities, and much more.

I would highly recommend The Emergency Disaster Survival Guidebook to anyone who is serious about being prepared. This is a great little book, but BIG on information.

I have learned so much from this tiny book that I've ordered them for all of my friends and will furinsh them to all my family members as well. Anyone concerned with personal/household emergency preparedness NEEDS THIS BOOK!

I think this book is great! While slim in size, it is BIG on information. Every page is jam-packed with information. I am amazed that the author was able to gather so many pertinent facts on so many varied subjects. Take water for example: there is storage; purification; sources; bodily needs; and how to locate it. There is information on shelters; food storage; an advanced preparation list, it's ALL there! It pays to think ahead, and this book does just that. A caveat: read and follow the suggestions NOW, before a problem arises. Don't wait until a crisis is upon you. I concur with outdoor survibal specialist Mel Deweese, THIS BOOK COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE! To conclude, this one volume boils down the facts to the essentials, and cuts right to the heart of the matter. As one who has actually lived in an alpine wilderness, and for a period of time had to forage for food and build a shelter, I recommend it highly!

This book is chock full of information that might well be common sense. But are these things common knowledge? It's too late to hone your basic living skills after disaster has wielded it's blow. Earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, civil unrest .. these things can strike without a moment's notice. The practical, easy to understand and follow information in this book could one day save your life or that of a loved one. This book is right next to our First Aid kit, and it's been read by every family member. We hope we'll never have to use these emergency measures, but it certainly is a comfort to have this kind of organized information at our fingertips. Hats off to the author.

If you can read the very tiny print in this book, you will find it gives decent basic material that is helpful but it covers too many areas to be really in depth in any of them. However, some areas were quite good and the illustrated shelters was excellent. For general info, it would be fine and is small enough to be portable so you could take it with you in an emergency.

weak. poorly organized and constructed. very little new ground explored. of less value that basic Boy Scout handbook. Sorry I bought it. Hope no one who really needs survival information thinks this book will do it.
