Rick Tobin is the owner of High Hope Publishing. His writing interests include novels, poetry and music lyrics. Rick is also working on several movie script projects based on some of his published books and some original script concepts. He is also known for his professional white papers, journal articles and technical books. Rick is often called upon for public presentations, seminars and training courses. He also received a national award for his Internet radio program, "The Road to Ready."
Rick's primary profession is that of the President and CEO of TAO Emergency Management Consulting. He provides support for government, private sector, non-profit and individual interests involved with preparing for emergencies, disasters and catastrophes, including natural, human-caused and technological events. Rick has pursued that career for some thirty-five years. He has a history of working in many fields including the scientific community and research, agriculture, mining, chemical sales and analysis, the oil industry, shipyards, nuclear energy and weapons, teaching secondary and college-level curriculum, video production, counseling and a host of other endeavors. Rick has served as an elected official in California, on the board of non-profits and as the founder of a non-profit. He also has belonged to a number of art galleries in which he has held one-man shows of both his electronic art and his photography.
Rick was raised in North Dakota and has since traveled and lived throughout much of the United States. Rick's current home is near San Antonio, Texas, where he shares life with his patient and caring wife, Cinda.
