5.0 out of 5 stars Behind the scences; a spine tinging look at the E.R.!
Exciting, extreme, death defying all in one. The book, Emergency Room, is a deep thriller every person could enjoy. Inside the E.R., author Caroline B. Cooney takes us to inchatment once again. Posing her work, she uses two college freshman as volunteers at a city hospital E.R. As an exciting event happens, like the 1st was a gunshot whom, the next ones beats it all...

3.0 out of 5 stars Overall Great Book.....
This book was one of those can'r-put-it-down-'till-it's-finished type of books. Cooney certainly does a fantastic job of capturing the emotion and trauma of an emergency room. Some parts of the book did bore me, though. Loved the insights provided by different characters. A well written book!!!

As an exciting event happens, like the 1st was a gunshot whom, the next ones beats it all to pieces. In this book, there's romance, humor, and defentily intensity. Drug addicts are being shot, babies are being stolen, and automible accidents are scraping people up with the blacktop. Each encounter will have you thriving for more. I recommend this book to each and every person who likes to be thrilled and to all you Caroline B. cooney fans, she certainly didn't let us down with this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting ER Fiction, July 8, 2004

Eighteen-year-old City Hospital volunteers Seth and Diana have dreams of being emergency room doctors. Helping people who are hurt, and need someone to mend them. But first they have to get through a night of emergencies that will change their lives forever as they know it. At 6:00pm, Seth and Diana show up at City Hospital, eager for their one chance to save lives. By 6:30pm, an eighteen-year-old female named Jersey has arrived, complete with a gunshot wound, the victim of a drug battle. At 7:00pm a seventeen-year-old boy named Alec arrives, brought in after a grisly motorcycle accident, in which he was wearing no helmet. By 8:30pm, Seth is saving the life of a baby. All this and more happens daily at City Hospital, but volunteers Seth and Diana only get to experience the excitement once a week.

Having been on a huge ER reading kick lately, I was absolutely ecstatic to find that famed author Caroline B. Cooney had written a book entitled EMERGENCY ROOM. From page one, EMERGENCY ROOM takes you on an exhilirating adventure that you will never forget. From gunshot wounds, to accidents, and more, EMERGENCY ROOM delivers it all. Fans of ER fiction, whether for teens or adults will relish in Cooney's EMERGENCY ROOM, and find themselves begging to read more about Seth and Diana's adventures. Sadly, there are no more as of yet, but we can keep our fingers crossed. An absolute must-have! Don't miss EMERGENCY ROOM.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Emergency Room (Point) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a very powerful story about life in an E. R. The book shows the feelings and problems of the staff, the wounded, and the families waiting. The author writes the very essence of the difficult things one must do in such situations. This is the best work yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Non-Stop Adrenalin Rush!, December 10, 2001

...
Its 4 p.m. and many people are packing up and ready to go home, but not Seth and Diana. Their volunteer shift at the citys busiest hospital has just begun. If you are a fan of the hit television show E.R. than this book is for you. Caroline B. Cooney has done it
again with this adrenalin pumping book on the life of an emergency room volunteer and the tragic lesson of life and death in the E.R.. From the beginning you know who cant put this book, well, at least I knew.

Alec is admiring his cousins new Harley-Davidson when he decides to go for a test ride. When Alec does not return with the time he was supposed to be home, his cousin gets worried and just before he goes to call Alecs cell phone he notices the one and only helmet sitting next to were the bike stood. This is just one of the scenarios Seth and Diana have to face in their daily job as volunteers at the citys emergency room.

Caroline B. Cooney as written many books including, Flight Number 116 is down and The Fire. This book, along with her other books deserve a five-star rating, this one for the suspense, the laughs, and the true facts of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A whole bunch of ER episodes in one book, September 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Emergency Room (Point) (Mass Market Paperback)
I read this one in the 4th grade and it was first mature novel, as well as my first favorite book. I still read it now (at age 14) and love it again. Now I want to be a candystriper!! It's from different perspectives and a few stories go on at once, but it all comes together. So if you like anything in the medical field, General Hospital, action, etc. you'll love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was an excellent book! One of Cooney's best!, June 14, 1998

This was a "couldn't-put-it-down-for-a-minute" book. The setting in the book was constantly changing to keep readers interested at all times. From Gun Shot Wounds, to a Moter cycle accident, Caroline B. Cooney's Emergency Room was action packed. I've read many books about hospitals and emergency rooms, but this one is the best because it is the most realistic! This is definitely a must have book for anyone who likes action packed books!

4.0 out of 5 stars Emergency Room, March 17, 2005

This review is from: Emergency Room (Point) (Mass Market Paperback)
I am a senior in high-school and I look for books that are exciting and keep me on my toes. One such book is Caroline B. Cooney's Emergency Room. It starts with a teenage girl who is shot in the city as she travels to the mall, to the life of volunteers in the emergency room, to a love-hate relationship between two volunteers. The author keeps it exciting by having events occurring constantly like this throughout the book.

The book starts with a teenage girl named Jersey who is in her first year in college and loves to shop at the nearby mall. One day on the way to the mall she is shot by gang members. The author then turns it over to the life of two teenage volunteers who help out in the emergency room. As the book goes on the author brings in different patients to the hospital emergency room keeping readers on their toes.

The book is exciting because teenagers like myself get excited when they hear about accidents and how doctors operate on these people in the emergency room.

As Caroline B. Cooney flashes back and forth from patients being in the different accidents to the people working in the emergency room, she lures the readers along with the action. I would advise to other readers that there are some violent scenes since it deals with people getting in accidents.

Overall, I believe this is a good book for all ages, but especially for teenagers ages 15-19. This book will lure the readers along and it will not put you in a sleepy mood. Readers who like exciting action should definitely read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emergency Room by Ashley C., June 14, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Emergency Room (Point) (Mass Market Paperback)
Have you ever been in a hospital when they were rushing in a stab wound or gunshot victim and you feel the thrilling, horror of reality?

Well that's what it's like for Diana and Seth, two young volunteer's who are eager to save lives in the ER. In the book EMERGENCY ROOM by Caroline B. Cooney. At 6:39pm an eighteen-year-old girl named Jersey (the main character in the first couple chapters of the book) an innocent victim in the cross fire of a gang's drug battle. Around 7:15pm another patient is rushed in seventeen-year-old, Alec, a motorcycle crash victim. He was wearing no helmet and could barely drive a car never mind a motorcycle. Then at 8:27pm Seth must save a babies life. These are some of the events that are going on in this book that make it so great. This book keeps you on your toes as it goes from ER to Waiting Room from one accident victim to another. You will never be bored reading this book.

I like this book because it's thrilling and full of drama. Even though it's fiction it feels real like it really happened and you feel like you were there watch these grisly events the whole time. I think the author's message in this book is "Don't take things for granted" and "You can never be to careful." Some other books by this author are Drivers ED, The Face on the Milk Carton, and Burn.

I read this book a few months ago and was attached to it. I finished it in less then a week. The book gives an inside look to what really happens inside an ER, and it gives many different points of view, 2 volunteers and I think 3 patients. It's a very interesting book by the one and only Caroline B. Cooney. It's good for anyone wishing to pursue a career in EMS!!!
