I purchased a case of these from an online vendor to stash with the rest of my food storage. The unmolested foil packages were stored in a climate controlled room with very little fluctuation in temperature and humidity. When purchased, all were freshly packaged and well sealed.
Nine months later half of the packages had lost their seal. I contacted Datrex and received very polite and prompt communication. They advised that I throw out the rations that had lost their seal as they may have gone bad. There was no offer to replace the rations.
I went ahead and opened one of the remaining packs to take a taste. Very good for an emergency ration, but I have no confidence in this product. If half of my supply was unable to stay in a climate controlled environment for nine months without going bad I shudder to think what would happen if my life depended on a case of these that had been thrown in a trunk or stored in a less ideal climate.

This stuff is kinda tasty, stays fresh for a long time, and packs small.
I suggest it for any survival kit where space is limited but still available. In other words, get cheaper bulkier stuff for your home. (Mountain House Hardtack is good there, along with some peanut butter and canned goods). This is for your car, boat, plane, or office. It's standard issue in many lifeboats. It does not require cooking and is moist enough so that it's not thirst provoking.

Amazon Verified Purchase
When my order arrived I found one of the four pouches had lost its seal. A replacement was sent but the replacement had also lost its seal.
Out of the five total pouches I received two had bad seals. I cannot recommend a product that has such a high failure rate.

For Our Hurrican Box
Had a similar product before. Taste isn't anything to crow about - but when you are hungry enough it won't matter. I've had MRE's that were worse.
